He then goes on to give a 2 year contract to his son who is at best a league 2 fringe player or a regular conferance player.

Sturrock is a good manager - even good managers get it wrong.

I believe he's assembling a genuinely good squad, especially when comparing to our other efforts over the previous few seasons. It's all well and good for us fans can pick an XI on the internet but Sturrock has to pick the squad in real life and take in various not-so-easy factors - it would have been unfair to drop some players prior to kick-off today - now it won't be so unfair and I expect there will be changes.

It was always unlikely that we would be serious promotion candidates this season (despite some believing this a week or so ago) but I very much doubt we'll be dragged into a relegation battle under his command.

Patience is a virtue - we will get better.

I don't doubt that for a minute.

As long as that Portugese fucker who clearly doesn't speak a word of English doesn't poke his nose in too much.

New players, new management, structure, t.v. cameras on a Sunday, it was all set up for a home defeat.  

Harsh reality, renewed focus, and the opportunity to pick the team from a blank piece of paper was worth the dropped point that was all   they deserved to get.  Sturrock absolutely detests losing a game, it will be a very tough week an the training ground.

To be fair it's only 5 games in. If we don't win the next 5 or 6 matches i can see people starting to moan about PS. At the moment there are non better on the market. As Arriba says do we want Fergie or something?

Paul Sturrock is the best manager this club has had since Glenn Hoddle. FACT. The majority of the fans back him and his record is second to none. After Wise left last season the wheels could have fell off but they didn't. Sturrock could be crap here but I haven't seen one player he has brought in really that has been utter shite (except maybe kevin james)

I don't think Aljofree had the best of games by his usual standards today. But he wasn't bad. He and Ifil had a solid game, although the hoofing was a bit excessive at times. Oh well, they're central defenders, not midfield playmakers.

I agree with Toni, that Paul Sturrock's a big shit.  I mean just because he got Plymouth promoted twice it really doesn't mean that he'll be able to get us out of League 2 does it.  I hate the bloke, in fact I'll never be able to forgive him for finishing 3rd in that league last season.

I liked Wise as manager, but again his track record isnt that of Sturrocks and none of his former clubs think he's a god. Infact both us and Millwall think he's a bit of a cunt (for different reasons, rightly or wrongly) and he may have started well with Leeds this season, but he got them relegated last season.

And it's been glaringly obvious since the beginning of the season where the problem lay, even to Sturrock. That's why he brought two new strikers in on deadline day.

If you sign players who you consider are better than what you've got, you should play them. It's all very well be loyal to players, but I want to win games. If it upsets a few of them, tough shit. They'll have to work harder to improve thier game and get back in the side.

Oh really. He isn't that good? He started the season with -15 points and he's already back to 0 points. 2 more losses from us, 2 more wins from him and he'll be on level points with us. And Sturrock didn't start the season with any deducted points. The stats this season speaks for themselves. Wise has won every game for Leeds (only team with a 100% record in all 4 leagues) this season already and we've won 1 league game. I think that shows who the better manager is.

I don't give a toss about Leeds.

Look at the stats at Swindon............

And then compare Wise's managerial record throughout his career to that of Sturrocks.

If you want to judge a manager on just 5 games, fine.

But it's a bit more informative to look at their whole career.

Sturrocks acheived more.

And, more importantly, done better at Swindon.

Only cos he's been in charge for longer at Swindon. You don't know how Wisey would have done if he had been in charge longer at Swindon. So i don't think its fair to judge the two managers on that either!

I used to have a myspace page, but I haven't used it in years. I have a facebook page, but I try and only use it to keep track of old school friends and people I've got to know properly. I let my myspace page get to cluttered and that's why I stopped using it.
