What would you do DV.

Would you stay at a club where you had it dictated to by people way less experienced than yourself who was signed, or would you go somewhere that you could be your own man without interference.

For gods sake get real. I truly hope to god i am wrong on this one- but i have heard this from several sources inside and outside the club

....and do you have any proof to back up what you've just said at all?

We've heard so many things from so many people with so many different sources - I generally ignore it all.

My sources told me the World is going to end on Friday.

Hypothetically if he went then I'd demonstrate loudly and then go back to watching the club. Over the last 30 odd years I've stopped going three times. First of all when my kids were born and I couldn't afford it. Secondly the latter days of the Scouse bastard and thirdly the latter days of the raving nutcase that was King.
Sturrock leaving would not be enough to stop me going. Pumping the team full of foreigners you're looking to see would stop me as would moving us out of Swindon.

Down the years I've had personal reasons for not going to every game,  but  I've never considered not going when I've been easily able to.....this is different though.

For me Sturrock quitting  or being  forced out would signal that the club as something that represents the community, which despite all its faults, is what its always been for my 40+ years would be finished.  I couldn't watch a monster who's sole raison d'etre is to line the pockets of agents.

I'd still do all I could to try and undermine that regime......

I think we'll know  by the deadline, if Sturrock gets a couple of players he wants then , how this wil play out.

I'm not optimistic he'll get anything he wants.

We have plenty of previous that proper managers don't tend to hang about for long being messed about by our Board......T*dd.....Evans.....Wise....

Those that stay are the desperate like King and Iffy, happy for a job and prepared to put up with shit.

The noises such as they are for our future suggest a yes man is needed...

Even a stopped watch tells the right time twice a day.

I hope you're wrong to Bart, but eh? Look to the 'bright side', you'll be right, which is better than getting behind a club and team, being positive and looking at what's good.

I'm not foggy, but

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Blair has been usles so far this season, wouldnt get in most league 2 line ups

Wrong

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Probably Diamond Mike will sell Ifil next week and these are the replacements

Wrong

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Having attended last night i really think we are going to have a relegation fight on our hands.

We lok absolutely toothless up front- and our midfield did not have an ounce of creativity.

Wrong

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Rumour is he is off to Bournemouth, had talks at the weekend

Wrong

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
I heard Sturrock on the radio today reference the squad size.

He is looking for a squad of 18-20- anyone else think this is a bit small and would lack strength in depth, especially in the case of injuries/suspensions.

Also why are we loooking to keep Pook, Sturrck, Gnapka and Noubissie cant see them cutting it in league 1.

Wrong

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Despite the board stating otherwise, it looks like our budget is going to make it difficult for us to compete next season.

Give us a chance of not just survival but competing at league 1 level.

Wrong

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Well its the same old story with this board. Lack of investment in players again, what a suprise. Dejavu 2005-06 but this time ground sharing with those lunatics

Wrong

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Excessive in my opinion. They should definately be back in training Thursday at the latest. We need 3 pts at Bury

Wrong

......and best of all.

Quote from: "STFC Bart"
Sturrock will be offered a place on the board on Thursday

Any rumbling noise could well be attributed to the earth moving for Fatbury in Corfu!!

Possibly but on balance I'd say the end of the world is more likely, wouldn't you?  :D

Surely the Allen saga would put any man off.

Sturrock still has that no-way-out clause so if it exists - we'll be okay. Right?

No such thing. Every contract has a price if the will of either party is there to break the contract.

As I said, unless the rumours are true that he is pissed off,  he won't walk (IMHO).

Firstly, let's hope the BBC are up to their usual standards

Secondly let's hope (and I think it's the case) that Sturrock is more a man of principle than Wise.

Thirdly,  perhaps our new owners won't be so keen to get their hands on a payoff

Sadly, It's "big club v little club" scenario.

There's no quotes - there's no major substance - the phone call could be one of many by Milan Mandaric.

Ken Bates didn't want anyone else to manage Leeds other than Dennis Wise - here's hoping Leicester are looking around.

Sadly I can see Sturrock going if he is not happy with what is going on here, if he is fine with it then I expect him to stay as he is building a good team and if everything comes together this season then we may have an outside chance of the play-off's with the team he is building and he may fancy staying to see how far he can take us.

There is alo the pull of working in the championship again with the chance of promotion to the prem which is probably a big pull.

But I just have that nagging in my head telling me all is not well and it may be the escape route he needs.....

Will loyalty be a deciding factor...is there any loyalty in football ??

How the fuck can anyone blame the Board of STFC for this???? I'm certainly not their biggest fan, but to imply this is their fault is sheer folly right now until facts are known re: Sturrock being pissed off etc. Just rumour and conjecture and you're all getting wound up about the slightest little thing.

You can't blame Leicester for looking at all the options available, and lets face it, Sturrock IS a good option for them in the cold light of day.

All that said, fuck off Leicester, and especially fuck off Mandaric. A cunt of a chairman and cunts of a club.

If Leicester make an official approach to the club and the club let PS speak to Leicester then I think they have made up their minds to replace PS and this would be the cheaper option than removing him from his position.

If PS talks to LCFC about the job then I think he has made up his mind to leave.

If either of these scenarios are not met he will stay, rather obviously!

I hope hes a man of his word, which he does appear to be, and finishes the job he started at Swindon.

On another point, we will always have our manager linked to teams from a higher league as long as we are doing well and getting results, so we may as well get used to it because if he doesnt leave this time then I feel many more approaches are pretty inevtiable as long as we are getting results on the pitch with PS.

Swindon Town Football Club would like to confirm that it has received no approach from any club with regard to manager Paul Sturrock.

The statement basically reads - no approach and won't accept one.  Whether it holds out remains to be seen as I think the same happened with Wise to begin with, then it changed to derisory offer and all talks were off, followed by seeing him at Leeds.

Personally, I thin it'll be a disaster if he goes. We're just starting to see what he's capable of building. We've gone from a team just about good enough to get promoted from League 2, to a team with what looks like a shot at a play-off place in League 1.

Just look at Walsall. They were champions of League 2 last season. Where are they now? I know its early but....

If Sturrock goes, and makes any mention of the new Investors/Board interfering as a reason, I'll be very angry.

It's nothing like the Wise situation.

Wise came out and criticised the board, something Sturrock hasn't done.

Sturrock has been here longer and invested more in the club than Wise ever did.

Wise wanted to go to Leeds due partly to the 'big club' factor and partly because he's buddies with papa smurf.

Wise was a cunt.

Tony Daley (ex sheffield united fitness coach) left leicester last week after falling out with bryan robson, neil warnock was also sat with mandaric at the plymouth v leicester game at the weekend, daley and warnock worked together at sheff utd, this info has come from leicester fans so hopefully we don't have to worry.

Your avatar just reminded me that Iain Dowie's been linked as well.

Oh fuckety fuckety big fat fuck buckets. It's just one thing after the other with this club. We can't even bask in the glory of scoring four goals for 24 hours without some other crap coming up :?

I don't think anything that ever happens at this club will ever surprise me.

That said, I can't see that Sturrock would want to work with Mandaric. He has a proven track record on interfering with team selection and the like.

I would really like to see a statement from Sturrock himself on this, stating categorically that he will be staying.

IF this does come true (and let's hope it is a HUGE if) I swear to God that will be the absolute final straw for me. I will give up the fucking ghost with this club once and for all.

That really, really is not an empty threat. That will be it for me.

FACT!

To be honest I'm just dreading the thought of another Wise situation unfolding.

I was certain that Wise would not jump ship but he did.  Now I'm certain that Sturrock won't be lured away, but I can't be sure.  So being the bloke I am I think about what kind of effect him leaving could have on our season/future.

It would be a nightmare!!  We'd probably end up with some unproven sh*t manager and another spell of crap would just be around the corner.

Although the board say they have not been approached it dosen't mean that Sturrock hasn't been approached unofficially (like Wise was) and may welcome an approach to put pressure on the board to do things his way rather than interfere.

If he does leave I think the board can expect a serious backlash from supporters, perhaps we can protest in front of the cameras on Sunday if it is true and perhaps even take over one of the cameras and force them to listen to what supporters want for once.

I wonder if Sturrock actually met with Little Jim today after all....could be an interesting press conf tomorrow

Yeah, of course it's important, but lets not start getting ahead of ourselves and getting in a right two and eight over something which is standard throughout a season. - Remember Andy King being linked with Pompey?

We've not been told he's going, we've not been told he wants to go, he's not said he's unhappy and after all we've only read a story about another manager being linked with another post.

Vacancies in football these days are all treated the same way by the press. It's just a template of a story with a fill in the blank (for the managers name) and  successful managers names are pulled out of the hat.

Anyway, i thought you were being positive like me? :)

most Leicester fans dont want him , one even thinks he plays hoof football with comments like that they dont deserve a decent manager. This is feeling very deja vu  like surely history of 12 months ago can not be repeated but the press conference tomorrow is very ominous  :(

I think PS is a decent and honest chap. His house was recently finished so he has now moved here, he has moved in players on long ( for us ) contracts and asks for some sort of loyalty from players so I would expect him to give a little back to them in return. It does seem that he has a sort of problem with the new owners which was going to be talked about today I guess. We all speculate that he is being told what players will sign ( that chap last night ) and that this could be the problem. Yet moving to Leicester would be no different. The Hasselbaink incident with Mandaric arranging for a player to sign that the manager didn't want to. HE WILL GO NOWHERE !..........   I hope. :|

If Sturrock had turned out to be shit, would we be all saying that we have to put up with it for the rest of the season, because of his contract?

As to Barts statement that Sturrock could only leave if the Board allow him to, well duh!

We are no different to any other club, albeit maybe not run as well, money talks.

Jesus, this is just average run of the mill journalism.

There's currently a load of managers linked with this post. Sturrock is being linked as papers will print any old shit.

I'm the dramatic one, but christ half the people on hear get well over the top.

So it's not important to you that the best manager we've had in years could leave?

Yeah, of course it's important, but lets not start getting ahead of ourselves and getting in a right two and eight over something which is standard throughout a season. - Remember Andy King being linked with Pompey?

We've not been told he's going, we've not been told he wants to go, he's not said he's unhappy and after all we've only read a story about another manager being linked with another post.

Vacancies in football these days are all treated the same way by the press. It's just a template of a story with a fill in the blank (for the managers name) and  successful managers names are pulled out of the hat.

Anyway, i thought you were being positive like me? :)

I was fishing :D

Well obviously. Of course. I knew that. It was blatant fishing. I'm not prone to biting or anything...     :D

Basically he is legally bound for 18 months, UNLESS the club allow Leicester to speak with him.

We shall see

Bart, its been said many times before and I'm sure it'll be said many more times, but you're talking SHITE.

If you think any judge in this country (or in Europe if it went that far) would enforce the 18-month lock-in clause then you'll be very fucking disappointed!  It'd be laughed out of court - just like you should be from this forum...

I'd have thought it would be the same for his entire contract - so not allowed to talk to anyone unless the club gave permission or this would be tapping up, would it not?

The lock in thing is a bit of a gimmic, probably entails a greater financial clause or something, who knows?

I think we should lock him in at the Gluey until Leicester get bored of waiting.

The 18-month thingy actually started when he signed, last October!!  So it only runs until the end of the season, after that he still has two years left on his contract.  Little Jim should sit down with him and give him and the rest of the backroom team an improved contract, if he did move then it would be much more financially viable for STFC.

Makes it very expensive to sack him in the future though.....

Maybe Reid would employ King as chief scout   :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

No but it makes their story look less like "Sports pages report common knowledge gossip with little extra detail" and more like "Investigative sports desk uncover the real truth of what's going on behind the scenes to bring you major secret scoop".

Reid was  very successful with King as chief scout, Reid went downhill when King joined Swindon.  King would be very successful as a chief scout, he is very good at assessing players.

Can we start an online Journal listing all the times STFU Bart is wrong?

Kind of like a reminder to try and help him/her keep those negativity glands under control?

So anyway, heard on the news that Luggy will be meeting Jose whatsit on Tuesday and that us fans deserve clarification on things.

To be honest I'm not sure what Luggy ment by it, as in what will be discussed and what us fans will eventually be clarified on. But it all sounds interesting.

It means Luggy is off to *insert any managerless club* or he might be off to *insert club with an under pressure manager*

I thought that much was obvious

Love,

STFU_Bart

I'd like to know how many more meetings with the new owners Luggy is going to have. He's been going on for months saying what good people they are whenever he's come out of yet another meeting with them. Now he's looking forward to another one next tuesday, with the takeover still presumably in the balance.

Not having a pop at the Luggmeister as I do rate him as our best manager for years, but him now claiming that the fans need some clarity in his obvious personal hour of need is a bit fucking rich.

Still, he seems to have at last realised that he's working for cunts, with more of the same hovering like flys round shit, which is a progression :)

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you axs. My comments were aimed at the endless summit style meetings he seems to be constantly called into.

I understand where you are coming from, but I guess as situations change, opinions change - particulariliy with this 'takeover'.

What he was told by the new owners at the beginning may not be what has actually happened now.

He wil lbe linked to any job that is vacant / close to vacant due to his fantastic record.

I quite believe his long term future is not at STFC...he is a manager and that is what he does best...manages clubs to promotion, he won't be any good at being a yes man.

How can Sturrock be expected to talk to someone like Rufus about player recruitment and get his approval when he is just finished his playing career and has no experience, and then there is Jose who is a football agent so of course it is in his interests to bring his players here, will Sturrock get a say in who is in his squad....I don't think he will.

Couldnt agree more. I think the way Sturrock (and the fans) is being treated is totally out of order. Let him do his job, a job he is proven at doing well at.

He wont be here by Christmas! And I for one won't blame him for leaving.
