Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Ralphy on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 11:25:15 At the moment i'm sat browsing the net with my feet in my sister's foot spa!! Yes yes i know, very gay. Anyway, it is because i have a badly brusied big toe from running on sunday afternoon. I did my usual 5 mile run with my addidas trainers instead of my Nike ones and boy do i regret it
My toe is black and very painful due to the smaller trainers pushing against my big toe. Just wondered what nasty sports injuries everyone else has suffered? Title: Sports Injuries Post by: strooood on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 11:26:07 bruised toe? wooaaahhh, you dont get worse

Title: Sports Injuries Post by: STFCBird on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:04:45 I broke my foot and tore all the ligaments in my ankle playing football once. if flipping hurt!!
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Johno on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:05:06 the worst sport injury i have had was my knee. after it i have had consitant problems with it. about 5 years now. cartildge, had a thing called osgoodshatlers disease at one point. i know it sounds stupid but true.
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Titch on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:08:36 My main football injury was ruptured knee ligaments when i was 14!! :( Was playing for Swindon & Wiltshire at time also! Spent bloody ages out and in the following 2 years tore them on 2 or 3 more occasions! So i retired from football at the grand old age of 16!!
I did play a few years back for a Sunday team but could not stand at playing with useless doughnuts and my knee could not hold out at a higher level so i am now officially retired forever! Only ball kicking i do these days is lunch-times at work in the summer so i can remember the good old days! I am all depressed now! Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Johno on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:10:50 i had to give up football too titch in the end. knees couldn't take it. only played a half most games and just couldn't be bothered for only a half then be in pain for hours afterwards!
i was so close to playing for swindon but they saw me get injured with my knee so opted for someone else in our team  Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Titch on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:13:21 I know what you mean Johnno! I had that osgood schlatters at some point! Worst thing is i am still in almost constant pain, especially after excercise and in cold weather but hospital won't do anything about it!
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Johno on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:15:38 unluckly mate. it ain't easy the only sport i do now mostly is cricket. i played for wiltshire in that so not such a bad thing having the injury as otherwise i wouldn't have played probably! but does mean i can only bowl like 5 overs before being nakard! my knees are feeling weak now for some reason..ain't done anything.
we are the ones with real problems  Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Ralphy on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:30:01 I also had fluid on my knee from running, very painful :(
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Boeta on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:44:25 I had Osgood-Schlatters disease as well, which was a bitch for 3 months, but apart from leaving a lump on my knee is fine now.
My worst injury was when I ripped my hamstring a couple of years back. Being a lazy fucker I never used to stretch before sport. So I had a full football season, then my first full cricket season (ie. senior as well as junior cricket) and every time I played my hamstring just got tighter and tighter. When pre-season football training started again I couldn't take goal-kicks anymore because my hamstring just wouldn't let me. Then in September, playing football at lunch-time I went for a slide tackle and it just went. The pain was undescribable, if I didn't cry I should have. I couldn't walk properly for 3-4 months. When I started physiotherapy, my physio said he'd never seen a hamstring in such a state in all of his career. By May the next year I was running comfortably and again, and by July it was fine. Now I stretch out before doing any sporting activity. Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Piemonte on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:50:17 My worst injury was a dislocated shoulder.
It was kind of my own fault, I slid in and mullered this kiddie (got the ball as well though:wink: ) unfortunatly i booted him in the air and his entire bodyweight landed on my shoulder. muchos pain Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Titch on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 12:57:18 Are there any perfectly healthy specimens on this forum? :D
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: strooood on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 13:26:12 hahahaha it's funny how everyone talks like they were stars in the making but then it was snatched away from them by god.
i broke my ankle once when i was about 13 playing for ferndale, but i'm not an utter pussy and still play 11 a side even if it hurts a bit. stop being such girls. Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Piemonte on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 13:28:14 When did I say I dont play anymore, rudeboy?

Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Titch on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 14:03:21 If you want my knee and ruptured ligaments then feel free to swap with me!!!! I wish i could play now, more than anything actually!
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: McLovin on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 14:23:36 I was a rubbish left back, and i was marking the current U16 100metre chmapion for wiltshire. There was no way i was going to win a battle of pace, so i went for the injure them quick option. He went off after a firm but, ahem, fair challenge in which i also fractured my wrist. I played on for half an hour after until it swelled up stupidly and i had to go to A & E.
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 15:26:39 I broke my finger playing basketball once.
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: reeves4england on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 16:09:29 Never had a serious injury really.
The worst one was when I was playing footy and sprained my wrist. I was agony as I was about 10 at the time, and that injury still comes back every now and again. I did it again playing footy for school against year 10s not long ago and its a real pain in the arse but doesn't stop me playing! Title: Sports Injuries Post by: DMR on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 16:24:16 - Broken metertarsal a la Beckham from football

i also had Osgood-Schlatters disease and i think it's buggered my hamstrings/calves up as well because they're always tight. oh well, i guess i should do the stretches they gave me at physio all them years ago if i can be bothered :-))( Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 21:28:46 Quote from: "Titch" Are there any perfectly healthy specimens on this forum? :D I still turn out at cricket.... but knocked football on the head in my 30's, rugby and hockey never lasted past school, but golf and tennis are still OK. Used to run but got bored with it , so took up cycling and walking. Cycling has tapered a bit recently, due to a knackered bike, but walking is most important.....as stated before preparing for the 26 mile Sarsen Trail in early May....apart from the usual blows received on the body from the cricket ball and lumps kicked out at football, I've never had a serious injury Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Amir on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 21:28:46 Clean broke both the bones in my lower right leg playing football when I was sixteen. Was meant to be going to Peteborough away straight after the game, dugged up to fuck in the hospital with my mum trying to shove earphones in me lugholes(2-0 Finney and Allison). Thanks for that, mum, but they'd given me morphine you daft old bint :)
Four months on crutches, at least another two before I could do any sport. No pin though 8) Can still play with no pain. Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 22:25:47 No breaks for me.
Tore my Cruciate Ligaments and cartlidge in my left knee playing footy at school. Got some nice scars from the op Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Rossi on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, 23:39:49 I managed to break the main bone and some other bone in my leg and dislocate my ankle when playing football. My foot was facing backwards because it was so mangled 8)
Title: Sports Injuries Post by: timmyg on Thursday, March 31, 2005, 07:47:06 I sprained my wrist saving a penalty last year... And that's it really.
Oh, when I was 9 I sprained a finger while throwing an American Football around. :( Title: Sports Injuries Post by: Johno on Thursday, March 31, 2005, 10:45:37 Quote from: "reeves4england" And it was against us! how I laughed when you dropped that catch Johno!!! :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick a game we should of won, but your fatty bowler kept breaking the wicket everytime he fell over. idiot. but satill got you all out for 60 odd! Title: Sports Injuries Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, March 31, 2005, 11:05:05 You ntoice that we only had about 7 or 8 regular players that day!
