OK, not around much tday (work) to advise but what do you mean "it doesn't do anything".

1. Firstly, is this a new ADSL router? If so which make/model is it?
2. Can you "see" the router from your PC (wirelessly) when you scan for it?
3. Does it "connect" to the wireless network? If you are using XP you should see a little icon in the bottom right bit of the screen (sys tray). If it has a yellow triangle over it see below (DHCP)

Best guess is that if you answer yes to 2 and 3 then it is likely that DHCP isn't enabled on the wireless interface by default (for security). This assigns your computer an IP address as well as other info..

If you answered no to 2 or 3 we'll start again.

I think your routers settings are set to make your network 'private'. Should be an option to make your wireless network visible on the router config page.

Is the 'wireless' light lit on the router. Is there any way to enable it from the routers configuration as it may be disabled by default?

edit : oh, ok. i assume youhave assigned an SSID,etc

If all that is already done, try changing the channel from 1 to say 10. Sometimes things such as video senders, neghbours using the same channel, etc can kill the signal.

I assume wireless works on your PC ok :)

Gotta go now will be back around 12:30, hope it works!

Make sure your network is secure though or you may have your neighbours using your internet to download kiddy porn....and you don't want that happening !!

Have you seen his place - the neighbours would need a bloody satellite dish to catch hold of his wireless network.

I have BT homehub on wireless...but it seems like we can only have one laptop which has the wireless connection. Both can access it individually, but not together!
What the hell is going on?

No idea how BT homehub works, but do you get any warnings about IP address conflicts?

Do you see a yellow triangle over the wireless connection Icon in the system tray (Windows XP).

No ive never seen this before...its looks like they should both be working as the connecton looks the same as when it is working. But it just comes up with "page cannot be displayed" on my one. The really weird thing is MSN messenger still works, it just websites that i cant access!

Network Address Translation:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation

Without it enabled, your ISP can tell you're running more than one PC on the same internet connection and might be blocking the second PC's IP from connecting.
