They were on sale yesterday (but don't know if it was only for season ticket holders) . The ticket people are having difficulty understanding the difference between "Charlton", and "Cheltenham", so I advise you to be very specific !

It was only when they asked for £18 that I realised they'd misheard me and in fact that I wanted a Cup ticket.

£18 for adults at Cheltenham - a bit steep for a club with very few supporters anyway.
According to the Cheltenham website we have behind the goal and a section of the stand on the side, so I would guess about 2000 in total(?).

Found this on another website (forum mind so might not be 100% accurate)

Quote
Away supporters are housed in the Carlsberg Stand behind a goal, housing 1,100 supporters (seated I think). Cheltenham also offer up to 1,500 extra seats in the In2Print stand along one side dependant on demand

Does anybody know if there is a bus to somewhere near the ground from the train station. The walk was a bit of shock last time.

Depart Chelt 18.46 arrive Swindon 19.49

£7 each return - cheap singles were wrong times.

And the problem for us English is that you germans already have your towels on all the decent seats!!!!! hehe

On a serious note, I think Im going to make a Monopoly board style pub crawl for this, theres tonnes of local pubs hidden that do local beers/ciders etc. I'll be lucky to make it to the game!

The Hereford game was a bit of a one off though due to the previous problems.  They enforced a police escort for the 2 mini buses as well, followed by full searches of everyone on board including the possibility we'd stuffed some drugs up our rear ends

Can't see that being the case for Cheltenham.

Anyone know of decent meeting pub pre match?    I've only been to Whaddon Road the once in recent years, and what with an evening KO didn't have time for watering.

Whatever their pub usually is.

Doubt there will be an escort at all as the rivalry isn't great at all. I do know that Cheltenham hate us a lot more than we hate them so i don't know if they have any firms that the police are aware of at all. If they do then an escort might be the case but arriving in Cheltenham at 11:11 the chances of an escort are probably very slim.

Too early for an escort? Last season at Herford the polic searched everyone at 10am and them dumped ina  pub, an escort from bath to rovers just before 12

If you keep your heads down you should be ok though

I thought wrongly i'd be getting to Cheltenham at 10ish, and so was pretty sure they wouldn't bother at that time, especially seeing as there isn't much hostility between us and them... oh well, i'm pretty inconspicuous anywho...

Trying to get a ticket tomorrow as the missus has spotted a shopping opportunity in Cheltenham so is prepared to drop me off near the ground.  If I get one, I'll give you a bell Fred and try and meet up in whatever pub you're in.  Won't be wearing colours but one real downside to having a hobby like sailing is I've only got wet weather jackets like Henri Lloyd.  So I keep getting cunts telling me to "jog on,you facking mug"

Roll off the train, into the pub, a few drinks, bit of grub, into a mini-bus (save on taxi fare), arrive at ground.

Fred

It had crossed my mind that the Midland may end up being a bit of target if there was going to be any trouble, becuase it's right next to the train station.

But so would any pub that was full of Swindon fans in Cheltenham!

If no one's comfortable going there, there's plenty of other pubs to choose from between the station and the ground. The police may even be planning some sort of escort to a specific boozer anyway.  I know they have done that in the past with other large away followings.

Like I put in my original post, the details I've been given are a bit sketchy anyway, so I'd call first to check what the pub have got planned before 500 Swindon fans turn up!!  :soapy tit wank:

At the end of the Promenade, turn right into the High Street. Go along High Street for around 100 yards and then turn left into Winchcombe Street (by a  branch of the Cheltenham &Gloucester Building Society). Continue straight along Winchcombe Street and into Prestbury Road. Straight across the next roundabout and then first right into Whaddon Road. The entrance to the away end is down on the left'.

I couldn't be bothered to type out myself but that basically is accurate enough.

The promenade is a one way road and has shops such as Jigsaw, Habitat, Gap, Waterstones on it.  You can't really miss it.

Well Friday night I'll be working until midnight. Then vic until 2am. Then home and lots of alcohol. I'll probably make it for quarter past. I still haven't had a chance to give you your birthday present yet.
