......good for me as a non smoker.    The most noticeable thing is that my sense of smell is returning,  spending a fair amount of time in pubs, always meant my sense of smell was blunted by others smoke.

   Now I can get a very nice blast of birds perfumes, but the downside of a lot of farts.

   Any smokers given thought to what might happen on Tuesday....can you go out at half time etc?

As a smoker i prefer it being non-smoking. I'm not happy that the law states i can't smoke, but the positives are significant. I now don't actually smoke at all when i've been out since.

I'm not fussed about the footy, if i can't go at out at half-time, i won't smoke. This will be good, as i smoke too much at footy.

For a fart?

I'd be suprised if they started letting large groups of people out at half-times, could well cause a problem somewhere down the line.  You never know though.

I'll just do without, which obviously means I smoke less, and it's the same in pubs.  I like that consequence of the ban, it just gripes being told how to live.

    Farting in the TE is a long standing tradition.   I'd imagine that the jobsworths at the CG will probably make you pay to come back in if you nip out for a smoke.

Ive not noticed any difference.I was expecting Pubs to smell different but they dont.They have seemed less busy though.Mind you ive only been to the pub 3 times since its come in and only drunk once from those three so maybe its curbed my drinking habits...

Ive also given up smoking but thats nothing to do with the ban.

I think it's ace! lots of cool people hanging around outside. It has been a real ice-breaker for me.

Nightclubs are a bit poo though

   I think it will hit some pubs more than others.....your typical back street local, which relies on its steady regular customers, will most likely end up convrerted to flats.

  The large chain town centre pubs which rely mainly on weekend drinkers, will probably be little effected....some pubs like the Merlin a  have decent smoking arreas....some like The Windmill plenty of outdoor space...cheers Bushey.

No been a problem for me, most pubs have done well to cater, be it even just a mere umbrela.

One thing tho, Brunel stinks of shit now it doesnt stink of smoke.

It will kill the real "local". The regulars who associate a pint with a fag/cigar/pipe bowl won't bother going any more. Which leaves them either closing or turning into a caricature of a local where trendy people come to enjoy ye old world experience of a local. And a plate of paella as well.

I think the local pubs will cope. Most have been around for a while (especially round oldtown) and I can't see a smoking ban stopping them.

You're looking at first impact at the moment, and although the weather has been pretty bad, it's September/October when you get the real test. When it's raining and cold.

I have noticed that busy pubs smell a fair bit worse than they used to. Apperently cigarette smoke did a good job of masking the smells of stale beer and B.O

i went to the Xfm club in london and it stunk of sick/farts. the ban has turned me from a non-smoker into someone who now wants to smoke for the sake of it in places which do not allow it, i blame my dislike of authority and weak moral fibre

Similar with me but from the other side. I do smoke, and this has made me instantly forget any thoughts of quiting. I ain't giving up because of some crazy law.

i gave up smoking by accident for a few weeks. had a couple at the pub on sunday, not smoked since.

Yes, it's Stephen Root who plays Milton.

Root is the voice of Bill Fontaine Delatour Dauterive in "King of the Hill", and is therefore a hero in my mind.
