Actually the new housing estates on the Front Garden flood plain (and yes - it does flood) are going to have to look like that I think.

Thats the problem with Tewkesbury, they've built something like 5000 homes, Morrisons and a by pass on the flood plain in the last 10 years and it is fucking up the rest of the area and the sewers, drains etc don't cope
Our house is 30 years old and this is the first time it has ever flooded, coincidence I think not.

Is there a river that goes through the front garden?

Excuse my ignorance, genuine question.

Thought so. In that case I expect it was very flooded.

Was out on my bike yesterday and teh front garden was flooded big time.  The developers will not be happy and would hope pictures dont make it to the adver.  The thing you have to remember is the drainage infrastructure isnt in yet so have to wait and see

It'll be fine there once proper provisions are in place. We all know Mr King and FRAG just don't want their view spoilt. Their selfish cunty attitudes piss me off quite a bit.

Does anyone think the word FRAG is a bit funny?

I do.

To be honest the arguement not to build in that area due to prone to flooding makes more sense to me than the "front garden" arguement i.e. thats its pretty and stuff.

It might have been pretty 70 years ago when Swindon was 1/3 the size and the M4 didnt exist, but these days its a strip of land between a motorway and a large town. Pretty it aint

Exactly, i wanna see them built for that reason alone. Terry King used to raise all manner of arguments in a pretty childish manner, just because his view being ruined.

I remember when he said, "People picnic there all the time." My arse, if they do, they should go to fucking Savernake Forest, Lydiard Park or Coate water, most normal people do. Views of motorways are far from an idyllic picnic spot. I suppose he takes his wife to Membury services for their anniversary, followed by night in a Travel Lodge and a picnic within the tasty confines of a lay-by on the A34.

I love the adver people, not sure what his name is but lives on Merlin Way and is a 1st class prize wanker.  He uses everything that happens to stop the development on the front garden and strips of land near his home.  I guarantee you he never moaned about abbey meads.

Always OK as long as it isnt on their front lawn.

Teryy King lived on my road - old army chap - he doesn't even have a view of it I don't think- but for the fact it's a flood area I love to see it build on to spite the FRAG protestors who proliferated that part of town.  Personally I'm not 100% sure Swindon should grow without major infrastucture improvements, and the horrid new build houses the large developers build are a blot on the landscape, but it would be nice to annoy a few nimbys.  As for calling it 'Wichelstow' whats that all about?
