Former Town loanee died aged 44 ... Seven games, one goal in 1996 ... Title: David Preece Post by: blinkpip on Friday, July 20, 2007, 16:06:34 Poor bloke. I remember him during the division two championship win. RIP.
Title: David Preece Post by: swindonbob on Friday, July 20, 2007, 16:08:11 Thats weird...i remember him on loan to us and i thought he was brilliant! So much in fact, that i had his number 4 printed on the back of my shirt (not realising he was on loan). That was the only time i had anything printed on the back of a football shirt.

Preece joined the Town in a week that also saw Scott Leitch and Steve Cowe arrive at the County Ground, during the run-in to Swindon's 1995/96 title winning season. Preece added much experience to the midfield and impressed in his seven appearances, his only goal coming in a crucial 2-0 win at promotion-chasing Crewe Alexandra. www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk Title: David Preece Post by: Bedford Red on Friday, July 20, 2007, 16:19:05 That is sad news.
I remember being impressed by him in the short time he was here too. I was hoping we could have signed him permantly but it never happened. Scored a nice goal away at Crewe. Title: David Preece Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, July 20, 2007, 16:36:24 Really sad to here about Preece's passing. I also remember him as having a successful loan period here.
Rest in Peace. Title: David Preece Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Friday, July 20, 2007, 16:54:30 Sad news indeed, best wishes to his family

Title: David Preece Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Friday, July 20, 2007, 18:10:14 That is shocking indeed. He was the perfect replacement for McMahon when he got injured and it was a mistake not signing him permanently IMO. I remember the goal he scored at Crewe around Easter time of that 95-96 season when we won 2-0. That was the game when we knew we were all but up. What a day that was.
Very sad news. Title: David Preece Post by: OneAndrewFitton on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 02:23:36 I thought he was a good player! he played really well when he was on loan here, i wanted him signed permanently, very sad news, 44 is no life at all, my thoughts go out to all of his family.
R.I.P Preecey. Title: David Preece Post by: Mark Hanrahan on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 08:13:39 Good little player. Very sad. Condeolences to his friends and family. RIP
Title: David Preece Post by: janaage on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 12:01:22 Erm as I did not go to many matches under McMahon, I don't remember his loan period here, but I do remember his Luton days.
44, flipping heck that's not old to go is it? RIP. |
