Mine is "A Kind Of Magic" by Queen!  I am listening to it now and it still bloody brilliant!"  I remember sitting in the old Swiss Chalet (back of Virgin, now Boswells i belive) and my dad gave me a bag with the Vinyl record in, I was so happy!  :)  Memories......

Isn't a Sitar an indian guitar basically? and didn't Geroge used to play one?

The first 'LP' (Albums were called LP's then) I owned must have been one of those K-Tel or Ronco compilations that they did in the 70's.  It would have had a Slade track on it, Blockbuster by the Sweet,  something by Chicory Tip and no doubt some Bowie track or other.

The first album I bought would have been either:

'Sound Affects' by The Jam
or
'Go For It' by Stiff Little Fingers

I can't believe it's 25 years ago this week (March 22nd) that Going Underground went straight in at number 1.

Oh dear.

Isn't education wonderful....yep it was a term for the pragmatic consensus politics of the late 50's early 60's, which came about I suppose after the Suez debacle.

So called because it joined the names of RA (Rab) Butler  a progressive Tory on social policy and Hugh Gaitskell the Labour leader until he died to be succeeded by Harold Wilson....hence Butskellism (or some such spelling)

First Album: A Real Live One - Iron Maiden
First Single: Not 100% but I believe it is either..

Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
or
Right Said Fred - I'm To Sexy

I still quite rightly listen to them all now when I am cruising like a vandal to south park central.

Likewise. My cousin made me a Blur compilation tape and I loved it, except my Mum took it away because it had the track Rednecks on which was a b-side littered with profanity, oh well. I love(d) that album.

Nah, it was Bleach Serious, I didn't buy any albums when I was really young but I was mainly into Britpop, it was the first I actually bought when I was about 12. Also bought a Clash album on the same day.

The cd broke after about 2 months but I got it again.
