Liverpool have met the asking price to trigger the release clause in his contract (believed to be somewhere in the region of £25-£27M) with Luis Garcia going the other way. Torres just needs to agree personal terms with The Reds which should be a formality as Torres is determined to join Liverpool.

 Again, alot of money being spent here but Torres is absolute class and I think he will do a great job at Liverpool who always create chances but seem to lack the firepower. There's also a strong possibility that Carlos Tevez could also join him at Liverpool with the new American owners beginning to flex their financial muscles. One things for sure the Premier League race will sure be interesting next season and could be the tightest for a while.

If they sign 2 or 3 quality players I don't see why not? Like I said, lack of scoring goals has been Liverpools problem in recent season's.

Man U are a classy side that has to be said but the only team that got near them was a stuttering Chelsea who I think will be firing on all cylinders next season. I still think Chelsea will reclaim the title next season just pipping Liverpool or Man U. Its going to be tight.



The best footballing team on the eye by far. Seem to have inherited Liverpools scoring problem. The sale of Henry will not help and £16M won't go far to replacing him. Someone like Owen could be a good signing possibly. Think Arsenal might have to battle it out with Spurs for 4th but my money would be on the Yid's.

torres is more of a creative forward than a goalscorer from what i've seen and l'pool have got enough of those already. it'll be interesting to see how he does.

Bellamy and Crouch should be off. Bellamy to Newcastle again i reckon with Crouch off to Man City to join Sven.

Cracking signing for Liverpool though

Torres is the type of player Liverpool have been lacking. A great partnership I feel will become between Torres and Kuyt. A few more good signings and it's happy days for Liverpool. I don't think anyone is going to touch Utd this season though.

A mate of mine who supports Man Utd was desperate for Torres to sign for them - he and many United fans will be gutted.

Kuyt is crap and at £26.5m Torres is vastly over-priced.
No doubt all the non-scouse glory boys will be saying how Liverpool will win the league now.

I think Torres maybe good for them, but another quality forward is needed - not Kuyt

kuyt is someone who will run his bollocks of for the team and also score 10-15 goals a season they are hard to come by imo

hard working but misses sack loads of chances

I think Torres is a very good player, but I'm not sure he's the goal getter that Liverpool need.

It'll be very interesting to see how he adapts to life outside of his comfort zone.

Kuyt runs around a lot but doesn't really do an awful lot. He's not prolific either. Liverpool still need an out-and-out goal scorer to play alongside either of the two youngsters.

i just remembered that i thought morientes would be fantastic for liverpool when he signed, so that proves i know fuck all.

I have never really rated Raul, but I though Morientes was a good player when he was younger, I don't know what happen but he lost it a bit. It could have been that he was at a big club (madrid) and thought he was made - aka Patrick Kluivert syndrome

I quite like Kuyt myself. Seems to do a lot of hard work upfront that tends to go unnoticed.
Will be interesting to see what partnership Liverpool will go with now though. I'd personally go with Kuyt and Torres, even though i don't rate him (Torres) very much, but Bellamy is cack and Crouch will no doubt be on his way, like has been said.

liverpool have got the natural striker now that they have wanted for a couple of years now. Atletico want Forlan as a replacement for Torres.

Liverpool still need 6 or 7 other decent players to make them contendors to win the premiership.

Whilst Liverpool on their day are one of the best teams in the premship, they lack consitency on a week to week basis, and i'd be surprised if they managed to get within 10 points of the premier league winners this season.
