Great drive today and didn't take any shit off alonso!  Good work

Looking forward to hearing what Alonso says in the press conference  :D

Was a great drive; World Championship is looking very promising.

It does indeed, I am surprised alonso hasn't lost it yet.  He will, he hates hamilton

Alonso seemed quite gracious in defeat to be fair, but I will not be surprised if he kicks up a fuss again.

I think the fact he went to McClaren expecting to be top dog with a rookie alongside him, only for the rookie to piss all over his bonfire makes it a tad worse.

I don't think McClaren are favouring anyone, I just think as it stands Hamilton is a better driver.

Alonso was on a shorter 2nd stint but he wasn't quick enough for them to justify Hamilton letting him past.

He just doesn't like losing (which is a good thing) but I can imagine he's not that happy at the moment.

Hamilton is looking really good.

Especially considering it's his first year! He's gone from strength to strength and I can't see him stopping the way he's going.

7 Starts and 7 Podiums is amazing.

It just depends how he's affected when at some point his car lets him down. I think he'll be fine; he's handling the pressure better than Alonso at the moment in my opinion.

go on, that means nothing.

Alonso couldn't get ahead of Hamilton at the start, and Alonso came in first due to having less fuel, and being the norm in any Team. The incident in the middle of the race had nothing to do with team instructions. The only reason Alonso didn't pass was due to brilliant defensive driving by Hamilton, something he had every right to do. If roles were reversed Alonso would of done exactly the same, and would of had every right to do so.

Your constant attempts to belittle what hamiltons achieving don't hold much water with me im afraid.

Ill always remember when Jenson Button first started out - I remember reading a magazine interview with him and his lovley girlfriend from Frome saying how fame and money wont change him and how he is so in love with his girlfriend

2 months later he was yachting in Monti Carlo with a model!

I do hope Lewis stays focused and on the straight and narrow.  Lats thing we need is another Button

There's a big difference between being rich and being a nob.  Just because people have tons of cash it doesn't mean they need to act like a twat.  Paul scholes is perhaps the best eg in sport - he's very wealthy and sucessful but entirely unchanged from what he'd be like if he worked a normal job.  Button revels in the playboy role, Hamilton seems to have his head screwed on thus far but you never know how he'll turn out once his huge status really kicks in.

Title: Hamilton....again
Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Monday, June 18, 2007, 13:28:50
The way I was trying to look at it Ralphy was that perhaps if Jensen Button had focused more on his driving than on being a playboy he might be more sucessful (and rich!) than he is now!

I don't consider material possessions to be a sign of being a nob - I think it's only natural to spend more money the more you have.  But your personality doesn't have to change unrecognisably IMHO.  I can imagine Button being the type to play the old 'Do you know who am I?!' card.

I hope he fucks up and Magny Cours, I'm getting sick of ITV sucking his cock so much. I want to know about Formula One, not just Lewis Hamilton. He's not done anything to suggest he's particularly special. It's all very easy in the best car, at Montreal he was lucky with pit-stops and safety cars, and at Indianapolis Alonso could've easily had him but couldn't because they're team-mates. I agreed with Niki Lauda's comments on Hamilton's over-aggression.

Title: Hamilton....again
Post by: Batch on Thursday, June 21, 2007, 11:14:46
He certainly has the best car, but to be 10 points ahead of your double world champion team-mate in your first year in F1 is quite special. Mind you I think Alonso is overrated...

I agree he can't be elevated to "greatness" until he has achieved something (i.e. win world championship). May take a year or two for that, but he's in with a chance this year.

As for over aggression/doing anything to win. Didn't do Schumi much harm taking out Hill in order to win the world championship

That would be true in the 90s, but it turned shite and nothing more than glorified 2nd rate stock car racing ever since they changed the rules and when cars like the vauxhall astra and the honda civic started racing as factory cars. It's all a bit laughable now.

The DTM (despite only 2 makes being in it) on the other hand....
