Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Sippo on Monday, June 11, 2007, 09:01:18 The new gym opens in Swindon next month. £51 per month. Worth it??. Want to join, but doubt I'd get my money's worth!
Thoughts? Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: red macca on Monday, June 11, 2007, 09:07:02 Had a look round mate and it is quite impressive, Not worth £51 though imo you can keep fit for a lot less than that
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Sippo on Monday, June 11, 2007, 10:40:44 Its a nice atmosphere, and although I've only been in a Next Generation gym they're similar. I really don't think I can justify £102 (a couple membership)...
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 10:45:34 I am quitting De Vere and doing long bike rides and football instead now...
£51 is a lot mate Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Sippo on Monday, June 11, 2007, 10:46:29 you can join my sunday team mate!
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 11:12:03 Maybe, what standard?

Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 12:47:58 up the old railway track down marlborough road round coate and back.
But reckon barbary castle ride would be good? Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 11, 2007, 12:56:36 Barbary Castle would be a good challenge, especially with that fucking big hill!
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Ralphy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 12:58:14 £51 a month
Thats ridiculous. My gym i use is at The Moreton In The Marsh Fire Service College. I pay £26 a year for full leisure club membership and then you just pay for each activity when you use it. Gym and cool off swim is £4.80 Just Gym is £3.50 It's a top notch gym too with alot of very expensive equipment. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: magic8ball on Monday, June 11, 2007, 13:10:58 The thing about David Lloyd is that they have absolutely everything there. Cracking little cafe, with a bar and big screen televisions showing live sporting events. They have indoor/outdoor tennis courts, badminton, indoor pool, outdoor pool, sauna, massive gym and places to leave your kids (if you have them).
They're great for families, but if you just want a swim and gym workout, you can get much cheaper. If you want to make it a big part of your life (go there on the weekends, evenings etc), or if money is no object, they're great places to go. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Ralphy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 13:27:54 I get gym, swim and sauna for £4.80 a time. (Plus the yearly £26 membership fee)
To be honest, a bar and cafe don't interest me at a leisure centre. I go there to work out not socialise and get pissed up! :soapy tit wank: Have they got a fag machine in the gym? :soapy tit wank: Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Chubbs on Monday, June 11, 2007, 13:34:42 Quote from: "Ralphy" I get gym, swim and sauna for £4.80 a time. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Ralphy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 13:50:19 Ha ha nice one Chubbs! :soapy tit wank:
I have now gone 30 days without a ciggy. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 13:51:08 It wont last
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Give us an S on Monday, June 11, 2007, 18:04:18 I just play sport. Much more fun than a gym and keeps me in shape. Fuck £51 a month!

But reckon barbary castle ride would be good? Bushey...I've been known to do a bit of cycling, but my steed needs a bit of maintainence, so haven't been out this year, yet. One of the best things about Swindon, is that with a bit of knowledge, its possible to cycle to most parts and keep largely off busy roads. I used to reckon that if you could cycle up Salthrop Hill and then Hackpen Hill to get to the Ridgeway, you're not in bad shape.....think at the moment I could probably only manage one :( Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:04:35 ace reg, how do I get to haydon wick from west swindon? is there a track?
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:06:57 Quote from: "Bushey Boy" ace reg, how do I get to haydon wick from west swindon? is there a track? Yep. Went that way tonight. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:08:04 is it marked?
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:11:20 Yep. Go through Westlea Park and through the underpass up to the back of the industrial estate towards the town centre.
Before you get to the new Thamesdown place there's a turning left signposted Mouldon Hill which'll take you up past the old powerstation and you come out at the bottom of Thamesdown Drive. Pretty simple to get to Haydon Wick from there. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: ronnie21 on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:11:57 Will be now if Sam had the spray paint out!
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:12:18 cant you go through peatmore etc? surely easier?
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:13:48 Can do if you want, I just prefer the other way because it's all country tracks.
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:14:08 My uni gym was ace. £50 for a full year, swimming, gym and loads of other stuff free. Shame I stopped going as soon as I joined.
Might start going to the Link again. Think it's £25 a month. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Reeves for King on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:14:15 I haven't cycled anywhere for a while now - cycled in to the matches during the season (not the away ones though  )
Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, June 11, 2007, 21:26:28 Quote from: "Bushey Boy" ace reg, how do I get to haydon wick from west swindon? is there a track? Think Sam has covered the question, but the old railway up from the back of Barnfield to Akers Way is very handy......some of the development up there has muddied the waters concerning traditional routes. Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 07:28:41 Quote from: "Bushey Boy" I am quitting De Vere and doing long bike rides and football instead now... £51 is a lot mate On saturday you were saying you'd go training with my mum! Title: David Lloyd Leisure Post by: Give us an S on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 07:33:43 I used to go cycling out Hodson way. There is some great tracks, one of them is proper rally style. I think i may go for a bike ride at the weekend.
