I do hate the evangelism from some Mac people, though. Use what you're happy with ... it's only a computer for fuck's sake.
Title: PC vs Mac Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 18:43:44 Even though i use windows, i hate MS.
I also dislike Macs because of their poncey, conceited, Hoxton esq, "professional", "better than you" image. I'd rather have a mac though if i was able to run the software i wanted. Either that or Ubuntu - when i grow some fucking balls! But like you say chris, it's only a fucking computer! 8) Title: PC vs Mac Post by: land_of_bo on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 20:28:56 Downloaded Ubuntu the other day...just thinking about which machine to load it on...what do you know about it?

BTW, Ubunta does look mighty good too. Used Linux a few times and it's a good way of extending the life of a PC if Windows is getting too slow on it. Title: PC vs Mac Post by: Sussex on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 21:01:58 I use a mac, but that's mainly due to my job.
Title: PC vs Mac Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 21:03:26 I downloaded ubuntu a while back. Never got round to installing it. I'll wait until I get round to buying another new hard drive now though. Could do with a seriously updated computer but can't be arsed. I love my 550mhz of aceness.

Nothing for/against Macs Title: PC vs Mac Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 21:36:54 Quote from: "land_of_bo" Downloaded Ubuntu the other day...just thinking about which machine to load it on...what do you know about it? All i know is that it's supposed to be very fast, amazingly stable and auto configures on 90% of PCs due to having nearly all the drivers built into it. Never used to though, Linux traditionally is quite scary, but Lindows and Ubuntu seem to have rectified that. I have a friend who raves about it, but still says Redhat (I think, but could be another Linux version) is better. He's a sad IT type though and i think Redhat's one of the more hardcore Linux versions. Title: PC vs Mac Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 21:38:02 I'd be wary of running Redhat on a PC, it's more of a server OS.
Title: PC vs Mac Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 21:51:21 I know little of Linux, i just know a mate which loves it. He may not have Redhat in that case.
Redhat does seem to be for servers. I suppose he may work with corporate networks, as he does work in IT, but tbh, i do not know. Title: PC vs Mac Post by: land_of_bo on Thursday, April 26, 2007, 13:33:33 I like the look of the cube vista style application switcher on Ubuntu...like aero but all your apps are on a cube which you can rotate!
