Last time I saw him on TV was during the World Cup and the presenters mocked him because it sounded like his voice had finally broken.

What a shame he's gone.

Rest in Peace.

That Bonnie Tyer song is enough to drive anyone to suicide.

RIP Alan.

As a German, I don't like talking about 1966   (only joking). But in a footballing world where the word legend is thrown around and placed upon footballers who do not deserve it, he helped to win the only world cup that this country has won and deserves to be called a true legend.

RIP Alan Ball; Gute Nacht Gott segnen

I see there will be a minutes applause at all Premier League and Football League games this weekend.

I'm liking this 'minutes applause' thing better than a minutes silence. Seems more of a celebration of life than a mourning of a death.

Depends though Sam. I think the point with the minutes silence is that it is so different and stands out from the usual noise at a game.

I like the minutes applause because you don't get 10 seconds in an realise in a panic that your mobile is still on full volume.

Or you don't get to hear the hoolies outside the ground shouting 'C'mon let's have it!' at the Shrewsbury hoolies.

25% Football :

I actually watched the 1966 World Cup Final (yes really) and I appreciate what Alan Ball did for our game and our Country.

80% Bollocks :

However, it was announced today that David Beckham is to drive the hearse at Alan's funeral as he's the best we've got at delivering a dead ball.

:D

RIP Alan

I think I prefer the minute's silence in general, unless the person was somebody as special as Clough or Ball where the applause reflects their incredible talent

Ha ha quality.

Never really saw much of Alan's work, just the average managerial career he seemed to enjoy.

61's not the best innings in the world, my deepest sympathy to all that knew the bloke.
