Apparantly yesterday a rumour was going around the winners that Power does not have any money! Started by board supporters needless to say.

Them being here is taking the gloss off potential promotion, lets remember it was them who got us relegated through their playing budget policy and Power who has got us out of it by investing at the beginning of the season.

They are total no-hopers. No-one with any brain will invest with them still here and all the dodgy goings on, and the council will not give them any redevelopment.

Heard as well that the rovers ground share and new badge are done deals, with no residents/fans consultation on the ground share- typical of them again.

Lets get them out- the only way is to boycott season tickets and hit them in the pocket. If you want a 10 point deduction next year, along with a relegation fight yet again, along with a stadium outside of Swindon, support this board, If you dont get behind the trust

I suspect the Board realise that a season ticket boycott will be very difficult to achieve in a limited time frame.....which is why they were so keen to react when Fred shot his bolt a couple of weeks back.....it would be good to have at least a contingency plan of how a scheme like  Luton did a while back might work out.in the public domain so that fans could consider whether they would be prepared to join in.

Think about how the opposition are positioned at all times. And consider the worst case. If you don't then then you can't respond to all eventualities. If the NDA is not signed in a reasonable time then the Trust can re-issue the statement from a week or so ago. A total boycott of season tickets, merchandise, etc, etc. We still have time to do this just about.

A problem arises when the NDA is signed. In my opinion we should back off to allow the due process take place. If the consortium is being strung along then how will we know to up the ante?

My opinion is once the NDA is signed we are entering into the end game. If they are serious all well and good. If they are playing games is there anywhere else for the consortium to go after that? I genuinely don't know.

Well, you might have posted it as a rumour but I have heard of this disinformation being put about on matchdays for months now. In fact at the first protest an elderly supporter came down from the Exec area to tell myself and a mate that we were wasting out time as Bill P had no money to buy the club. I don't see what warranted your attack on Bart.

Until the keys are handed over I think pro consortium demonstrations should continue. To hold off because the NDA may be signed (if this is what is happening) is in my opinion wrong. Even if it is signed I still dont believe an agreement will be quickly be reached and fans should not back off.

i dont think a protest was needed on saturday.and despite what some may say, the numbers that have taken part in protests have been small,and the effects minimal imo.
only money will have the effect we all want and for now we must leave it to the legal people.
the balls rolling now as far as i'm aware so i think we need to be patient. i doubt anything will be sorted by the seasons end,protests or not now.

We can do no more arriba IMHO, the protests are good, and if there was a half a season left there would be some virtue - but thus far albeit in a very roundabout way the club are playing ball after a fashion, it needs to be left to see if the NDA is the start of what we really want to happen.  If come next season still isn't happening then I suspect protests will be more vociferous - because there's a damn sight more chance the on pitch things won't be soem hunky dory, and the average fan will be more upset IMHO.

Boeta, compare and contrast the board's efforts at securing a ground redevelopment (got nowhere) with the considerable headway made by the Trust. Then you can get back to sneering at those who do make the effort.

You're right, I have no business skills nor experience in leading people but that's not what I'm applying for the board for. My reasons for applying is to become more active in helping the Trust aside from the Consortium; which I'll have nothing to do with, so you needn't worry about it going "up shit creek".

I'm genuinely surprised that anyone would have a dig at me, or any other individual, for putting ourselves forward for election to the Trust board. There are currently too few Trust board members for the amount of work that is required, the more the merrier.

There is a big distinction between the trust board and the club board - ultimately the consortium if/when they get in are all about Mike Wilkes, Bill and Phil and any other associates they have - they have promised a fan on the board - perhaps from the trust, but the trust began merely as a forum for intersted fans to take a more active role in the non-football side of the club IIRC. I assume for a fan to join the board it would be some sort of fans vote.

The Trust is a fans' organisation, made up of and run by fans. So, yes, you have every right to sneer at your fellow fans if you wish to. Or you could try doing something constructive about the ongoing mess the club is still in, promotion or not.

i have my own interests and commitments, and whilst swindon town used to be a significant part of my life it no longer is. that doesn't mean i'm not still interested and care about the club though

my overriding impression of the trust over the last couple of weeks, from the incorrect statement from the secretary to last night's bitch-fest is that it is an amateur organisation being run by amateurs. which is fine if all you want is a collection of fans who voice their opinions, but i'm not convinced by that if the trust wants to actually achieve anything

looking at the trust's aims they seem very wishy-washy and hard to quantify. what have the current board done to achieve these and are these aims particulalry important afterall?

yes they are available on the trust website and as a have said in a previous post seem rather wishy-washy and hard to quantify. it would seem to me that a lot of what the trust has done hasn't acted towards achieving their aims which seems a little pointless

That's not really a fair way to judge something though is it? I've been posting on these forums ever since the idea of a fans consortium and it is the first real 'bitch-fest' I've seen. Part and parcel of life really, everyone has disagreements and I'm damn sure you can't say you've never been involved in a difference of opinion within a workplace or at home. The only difference is, is that this one happened to be broadcast on a message forum. The current board of STFC could be exactly the same or worse (and from mumbles I've heard their bitching is A LOT worse than some of the stuff that has been said on here).

I think you've been too quick to jump on the back of the consortium because of one disagreement which at the end of the day, right or wrong, has come down to each person involved feeling passion for the club they love and over stepping a boundray. I've been guilty of it before in the past, as I'm sure you have too.

1) And if you care about the club and feel strongly about how it's being run then why not try and make yourself more important so you might be able to make a difference. Do you think all fans should just sit back and say "Oh ho-hum. I'm just a fan. I can't make a difference, why try?".

2) They are amateurs to be fair. Yes sometimes they make mistakes and idiots out themselves. But overall they are doing a good job and put in a lot of hard work.

Perhaps we should add a disclaimer to our signatures "I am speaking as an individual and not as a representative of any organisation". Yeah, so perhaps some of us should be more aware that what we say can be associated with e.g. the Trust but that misses the point about what happened last night.

I think we are all emotionally charged about the club and feel various levels of frustration with the situation. Sometimes it spills out - god forbid we are only human.

I wasn't being critical of the Trust either - although it did get hit by some fallout - the Trust's hands are tied by the motions that the members quite rightly voted on. I was appealing more to those of us who are doing things off our own backs to move the situation forward.

It's very easy for anybody to criticise a body like the Trust. But that is unwarranted if you don't get on and do anything yourself. The Trust is doing a great job on many different fronts and long may it continue.

Oh and I won't fall out with anybody either over a few "letting off steam" posts on an Internet forum. I value their friendship too much.

Well to start off with there is an ACTUAL ground development plan...not something that is in someones head. In doing this plan they've consulted with local councillors, local residents groups and a MP.

And if the Trust wasn't around, well there probably, to borrow Bob Holt's phrase, 'be no consortium.' The Trust, along with Mike Wilks did a lot of groundwork to get Bill Power and Phil Emmel on board.

The Trust board do all this work in their spare time. Without them, we would be getting the same old drivel coming from the current board. Instead there is an alternative...

Boeta, I think playing a pivitol role in getting someone with the money to purchase the club and stabalise it, along with getting Supporter shares and representation out of that deal and having produced a proposal document for the ground development which would ultimately improve the financial performance of the business would count as having achieved the main goals.

I think there was a period where the Trust kind of last it's "cause" in a way, where everyone thought the garden was rosey so a change of ownerhsip was not seen as desirable.  Since August the Trust has played a very pivitol role in attempting to do all I stated above, it has also seen it's membership rise to a level well beyond what a Trust would normally expect given the clubs fanbase.

Finally, I would if I had the time apply for election to the Trust Board, I think I could do a fair job to help out.  I would not however have any thoughts of going for the Supporter Director role as I do not feel the roles are in any way similar.  I would say very few of the Trust membership would think they could do the role on the Board of the football club.  However you might find someone with no interest in running the Trust happens to have all the skills and experience to be a Director of the footbal club.  This is why having a democratic organisation in place will work, because we can srutinise those who would want that role.  Don't forget many fans of this club will have been in more senior positions than any current Director of STFC may have been, it is after all actually quite a small business in the grand scheme of things with only £3m turnover.

To put it bluntly, the Trust are made of amateurs - insofar as every board member and individual who works on behalf of the Trust are not paid for their time or effort.

The trust might be amateurs and inclined to behaving like them at times, but you seem to be under the misconception that THEY would be running the club under the consortium. The club would be run by 2 self made multi millionaires or their representitives. The trust would have a seat on the board. Thats it.

Oh for fuck sake Boeta the Trust is a democratic organisation - not everyone is a member agrees with everything. The fact that things are put to vote shows that it's not an amateur organisation imo.

I didn't go, but the Lou Macari evening was hailed a great success, the Trust quiz I last went to had fantastic organisation. You've marginalised the whole Trust organisation based on a couple of events, which are probably largely insignificant compared to all of the successes.
