There will be tickets available for sale on the door. We've sold a decent amount and it should be a top night, but barring a last minute TakeThat-style rush, you should be able to pay on the night.

Macari was a top man, very honest and still angry we got made a example of with the bungs.  Some absolute classics about steve foley and heres a quick one about Steve White:-

Swindon were playing against gillingham I believe and the club offered whoever got the man of the match award a Vauxall Astra 1.4 to keep.  All the players agreed whover won it would sell it and share it amonst the whole team.  Chalky scores a hat trick and wins it.  The bastard kept it and used to drive it to training each day.  On the way in he would beep to the lads who should have had a windfall to a response of wanker signs!!!

A brilliant night

It was a really good night - thanks to everyone who came. Lou and Phil were class - a great double act, they should take it on the road. And big ups to Paul W for doing a tremendous amount of work organising it all. Great night.

oh and I won a cook book which cost me £15, thought the raffle was for the shirts not bottles of win, what a bopard

Top night, Lou was quality some brilliant stories - in particular being open and honest about the financial irregularties as well as the moving tribute about his son.

Phil King was a superb host as well so major thanks to Paul W for organising a quality night.

the best story was about foley getting arrested in a drug den.  Some black dud had loads of coke on him when teh police raided and foley had 90k in cash on him.  Got to court macari had to stand up and say he always had money on him (which macari said was bull as he was the tightest player in the team) Foley claimed he won it at the racing and got away with it....!

King reckons he is now at her majerstys service!

Interesting thoughts on Leon Knight and his wasted talent too.

And getting Foley to turn up at the Macaris court case was a classic.

During the bung investigation, every player had to make a statement, and when it came to the court case, Foley was the last one to give evidence...but he couldn't be found. The jury probably thought that he was a very important witness, but no-one could find him. When Lou and his lawyers did find him and told him to turn up at court, he turned up in flip-flops and a pair of shorts !!!

i couldn't go due to work commitments and i'm gutted i missed it.
i knew macari's lad commited suicide a while back but never heard the tale.

also, did lou say about foleys kids shitting all over the social club(as it was then)and his mrs leaving nappies all over the place?

He was just saying that out of his 3 sons he was the one with the most ability, had an awful lot of talent.  Think he said he joined Stoke? and things didn't go so well for him there and alot of his friends were getting paid off so he took this option as well.

Cant remember exact amount but pay off was in its thousands and he ended up blowing this over 6 months and things got on top of him and thats where he decided to take his own life, sorry not sure how accurate that is as cant remember it all but have nothing but respect for Lou for being able to tell that story, not sure I would be able to in the same situation.

Yeah he said that Jonathan had the best talent to really make something of himself, the other lads would have made a living in football, he was signed by Forest but after Lou went to watch him 6 months later he noticed a real difference in him and then thought he may not make it, he blamed the money as players at that time and age were just earning too much, Jonathan found that a lot of the young lads at Forest were being given payoffs in the region of 40-50,000, Jonathan decided that he wanted some of that and came up with reasons why he didn't want to stay at Forest and told them he couldn't settle, he eventually got a payoff of 28,000 which was gone in 6 months and it was this that eventually led to them losing him.

Macari was a total legend, I knew it would be a good night but it turned out better than I anticipated, and the story's he and Phil came out with were just brilliant.

And of course for Lou to be able to talk about his son like that shows the type of man that he is, he enjoyed the night himself as well.

And of course thanks to those of you that bought tickets to attend as you guys (and girls) helped to make the evening.

I havnt heard anyone ever speak as truthfully and knowledgeably about the game for a long time.

He didnt duck anything. Which made for fascinating listening.

In short Lou was fantastic. And I was only dissapointed that more Town fans werent there to welcome home a true Swindon legend.

I know its easy to say in hindsight, but perhaps there could have been a bit more face to face selling of tickets in the CGH?

Meh, didn't work as well as I hoped. Couldn't get a decently sized reggae reggae sauce and I had to shrink and distort it to the point where you can't read the bottle. I think you can see what I was trying to do though.

I was trying to flog them in the CGH before the Torquay game Spence but there was little interest. Posters have been up in the CGH for weeks.

We also put up 2 posters in 32 Swindon pubs as well mate.

I love idea of a Macari XI v a Hoddle XI. There's a fair bit of overlap though. I can see them fighting over who gets Digby :shock:

I would absolutely love a night out on the piss with, say, Digby, King, Bodin and Tom Jones (who I think is still local). I bet they are all really sound lads.

Tom's still local, his lad was on the minibuses to Hereford with the L&P lot.

He was my postman a couple years back.

That is great. You don't get that enough these days. His dad played for the club, stayed in the area and now he supports them. Brilliant. It's a real shame we released Leigh Henry and David Stroud. You can't keep players just because of their dads obviously. But it's nice to have a bit of continuity and tradition in a game where there is so little loyalty.

Fuckin great night...apart from the cabbie trying to charge me £16.00 for the fare back to the village inn..cunt.
He was a seikh(sp) so i told him he would need a proper bandage for his head if he persisted(£5.oo for carrying large items my arse) Paid him £12.00 in the end which i still thought was a rip off.
Got home, polished off a bottle of white, then fell asleep reminising over the good old days.
Im not sure that Lou took any money for the night either.
