This thing is spreading like wildfire called cute.pif and usually comes with the message "omg this is so funny!"

does anyone know what it actually does though? I accepted it, then it sent itself out to all my online contacts...but nothings really happened?

marie gave it to me...it sent it to all of my contacts, they started abusing me for it. then my norton stepped in and got rid of it. declan is fine  :beers

as far as i'm aware it's a worm that sends itself to all of the contacts and also downloads another worm with spyware in it. The thing about viruses is that often they only change behaviour of little things, or in fact seem anomynous when they are not. You may not think that it's causing a problem, but it really is

surely my norton would have stopped it. paid 54.99 for it so it should do something right? It cameup saying something and i pressed block it so does that mean it still on my computer...

it sounds to me like it's on your computer, but the virus is trying to access the internet to install some spyware.

1) Sounds like the firewall has blocked access to the internet (good)
2) It is still on your pc from the sound of it (bad)
3) New viruses are always being released. There will be some delay between the time the virus is released and when Symantec makes a fix for it. I suggest making sure your virus definitions are up to date, then doing a full system scan.

My mates sorting his pc out now. If i learn any more i will let you know
