depends what you want a hatch or saloon any preff of make and model.
just search autotraders website and look through the cars there to give you an idea. For that amount of money you could get a nice motor like an audi or vee-dub. Just look we can give you options at the end of the day it is your choice.

Mine's quite an old (1996) Jap WRX, so standard its 260 bhp, as long as u run it on 99 RON fuel, allthough mine has been modded, exhaust, filters etc

For 9k u will get a cracker, check out some of these...

...and also because if the turbo is knacked there is a good chance the engine will follow pretty soon.

your wheels look far to small for your car birdy which doesn't make it look as good as it should

I agree they do, but thats how it came.  I'm not fussed, it's still a pretty car, and as sussex says, it goes like shit off a shovel, it's lush to drive.

Don't get a Vauxhall, crap cars and that Astra looks shite I am afraid (sorry to those that own one) and is a girls car.

I had an ST170, the edition before the current one and it was very nice, you can pick up a nice example for about 8k I expect. If you want real shit off a shovel, go for a Scooby or a type R (Ralphy has already filled us in on those!!).

My A3 cost me the equivalent of 11k in the UK and with a V6 engine has plenty under the bonnet to keep me out of trouble!

i think they are the two cars i'm being drawn towards.
the type R is a quality motor but i've not driven either or been in a scooby to compare.

I do know the Type R has blistering performance. Ralphy did demonstrate that 8)

i'd sell my gran for a P1. FACT

i got an ST170, nice cars, very nice indeed. not amazingly quick, slower than a CTR or the newer focus ST, but not bad by any means!

Agree, I was very happy with my ST170, apparently it has Lotus like handling.

I have always liked the sporty Seat's which are effectively a cheaper version of a VW, the Leon being a personal favourite. The Clio is a quick, decent car albeit French. Don't get a Pug.

You can pick up some really cheap japanese imports from a dealer in Southampton docks. My mate went there and was going to buy a top spec Supra for just a few thousand. I'll try and find out what the place is for you.
