Title: Protests
Post by: Fred Elliot on Saturday, February 10, 2007, 22:09:57
Should be co-ordinated and done at the right time for the maximum impact

It needs pulling together.

Volunteers to undertake this ?

You will be public enemy number 1 in a lot of people eyes, but you could be the catalyst that saves this great club !

I'll be up for a protest. I won't be going to games anyway. What has one got in mind? Anything short of I.D. and I'm in.

I have the organisational skills of a mentally challenged gnat but I'm willing to support anyone with any donkey work, can't chuck much money in though!

I agree, we need to be in numbers and ensure a good turnout, we don't want to provide any ammunition for the board

It needs to be co-ordinated through one source, obviously it is not being done through an official body so needs to be an individual or two

I'm sure hundreds would join in with these protests, i'd back it all the way!! this is the last resort but the time has come and it needs to be done!

I'll be serious to help. Like I said I won't be goign to games so might give me more time. Also college isn't back on for many weeks so I don't have any pressure to study at the moment and planning won't be a problem because of that.

Post by: glos_robin on Saturday, February 10, 2007, 22:19:48
Sit in is a goood idea actually not something I've really thought of, Fred I agree that it needs one central organiser, one unified message is needed because we can't afford to give mixed messages

The perfect opportunity has presented itself thanks to the inclement weather last week.

We must do something at the fans' forum. This is the ideal moment to register our discontent with the board's refusal to negotiate without affecting matters on the pitch. Many important people at the club will be present and with significant numbers on our side, they can't but fail to notice just how strongly we feel.

Time is of the essence, gentlemen!

Will the 'key board members' actually turn up to the new forum. I can see it just being a Q & A for Sturrock now.
If still there though I think we should make their life hell

"History can never be made by one man; we must smash this one quickly.

History is made only by the masses of the people this is clear.

Even a cursory glance at the fallacious presentation of history by the American capitalist system will demonstrate just this.

Take George Washington as bad as he is; put him in the middle of Valley Forge by himself surrounded by the British he can do nothing.

Take Martin Luther King as righteous as he is; put him in the middle of Birmingham by himself, speaking out against racism he would be lynched.

But you take this same King, you take this same Washington. Put them in Valley Forge, put them in Alabama.

Surround them with thousands of people who have the same ideas they do willing to make those ideas reality and the situation changes drastically."

What Fred Elliot called the Peacefull approach is over. I expect that the Battle for STFC is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of our football club. Upon it depends our own Sanity, and the long continuity of our traditions.

The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Diamandis knows that he will have to break us supporters or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, the debts may be paid  and bill power may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the County of wiltshire, including salisbury, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of the money grabbing bastards more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.

Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if swindon town were to last for a thousand years, men will still say, "This was their finest hour."

Just a thought, is there any relatively unused STFC messageboard or forum anywhere that protest efforts could be coordinated on. I'm wary of using this board for example as it could cause Sonic and Whits some grief which may be a bit unfair.

If it's not libelous, then it shouldn't be a problem. Unless violence or criminal damage was talked of, but we're not talking about that

"I am Fred Elliott and I see a whole army of my fellow STFC fans, here in defiance of tyranny! You have come to fight as free men. And free men you are! What will you do without STFC? Will you fight?"

"Two thousand against ten?" DV85 shouted.

"No! We will run - and live!" cried Maverick

"Yes!" Fred Elliott shouted back. "Fight and you may die. Run and you will live at least awhile. And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here as young men and tell our enemies that they may take our lives but they will never take our STFC!"

http://www.yourrights.org.uk/your-rights/chapters/the-right-of-peaceful-protest/index.shtml

Quote

Peaceful protest it is a vital part of a democratic society and has a very long and respected tradition in the United Kingdom. It can be a very powerful campaign tool and many of the rights and freedoms we enjoy today were gained because people were prepared to go out on the streets and protest. Since the coming to force of the Human Rights Act we can finally say that we have a right to peaceful protest.

Basically, done within the framework, there is fuck all they can do about it (the club, the police).

Organisers have to put their name to any organised march/protest - and any consequent damage, caused by anyone involved, is on the organisers heads.

Saying that, there's no reason for this to be violent whatsoever. It's just that you never know if one or two go OTT

For anyone who's serious about the protests, we've got a forum set up here (http://www.theenglandlist.com/forum).

Once you've registered please send me a PM on here or on the protest forum and I'll sort you out access to the private part, away from prying eyes.

Well the idea of a march would be similar to the march we had when we were demoted .. it would make the papers - fans making up banners to support the demo  - Swindon not Chippenham! for example

.. until people realise how close this club is to being taken away from us instead of making jokes then we are at real risk of having no football soon as no one made a stand in time

Im also very worried about the CVA as well as the Chippenham thing
