Title: Carling C2
Post by: Sippo on Monday, January 29, 2007, 09:16:06
What is the point in this beer?!! 2% alcohol vol, deseigned for the pub lunch market. I really don't see the point in it. The Beeb reckon the english are going soft. Personally I can't drink anything less than 5%. I hate Fosters or carling, and definately prefer I stella or Krony.
If I'm paying over £2.50 a pint I want my money's worth!

Discuss.

Never a truer word spoken.  If I'm drinking the fizzy piss, as opposed to my preferred ale or stout, it's gotta be strong and or trendy bottle lager (with lime) Peroni, nastro azzuro, sol or corona spring to mind.  Did have a great Zywiec (sp?) on saturday night though, very tasty.

Is that Polish? I had it the other night too, 5.6% and three bottles of it made me far merrier than normal i suspect the poles might use some secret ingredients.

On the subject of Carling, how shit is the "BELONG" ad? Nice pictures of birds and all that but you can tell it's aimed at the mindless (Prem) football fan.

Pretty sure it was polish, from wetherspoons, my mate also had a russian beer they sell, that was good stuff too.  Didn't realise it was 5.6% might explain the contribution it made to my state on saturday night, that and the copious other varying drinks I had.

they have it in o'neills, but the tap was off when i went there.

now, never let it be said that i'm averse to change, but messing with perfection is a dangerous game.

Sounds like some crazy student style Guinness 'n' Black. I'll give it a try but I ain't holding out much hope.

They have stupid beers over here that are weak, middle strength and strong! If you're going to drink, drink proper stuff if not just save your money and buy a soft drink is my opinion.

Felt sorry for the cricket fans as only 2% beer was sold in the grounds (well the SCG anyway) or else there was wine. Hardly anyones first choice of beverage at a cricket game.

Can't go wrong with a bit of red wine. The fact it's served at a warm temperature makes it better for drinking. Speeds up the reactions in the blood or sommin.

Lovely Spanish Garnacha (Grenache)  jobby at half price in sainsburys at the moment (well the one down town any way.) Seems to be this one http://www.ozclarke.com/wines/oldvinesgarnacha.html reduced to £3.24 (probably, something like that, less than £3.50 anyway).

I recently enjoyed Sainsburys Special offer on the JP Chenet French Red, a very decent drop in a slightly unconventionally shaped bottle, adding an additional enjoyment factor to the drinking of it.

I'd just like to make it clear that I have no affiliation with Castle.

Castle is OK, not the best and certainly not at £3.50 a bottle.  It's a shame lion red and speights from NZ don't get over here often as they are both pretty nice.
