Right then, I've made an executive decision and have decided to organise minibuses to the Hereford away game.

It is a fair way off yet, Saturday 7th April but I thought I would test the water and see who is interested to get an idea of numbers for this one. This will give me plenty of time to book the minibuses, check out the pub landlord(s), contact the club about parking with the away coaches at the ground etc.

It will be similar to the previous two - £15 a head all in including hire, fuel and booze. Hopefully we get non-self destructing minibuses this time.

I will also need some volunteer drivers again. I'm happy to drive, as always. Millom? Macca? Sonic - will you be 21 by then?

So who is up for it?

I'm in but on the premise that I'm not going away for a lads weekend in europe which was mooted a few weeks ago by may mates, but looks unlikely now. Will try and find out what their plans are this week...

not sure. i don't think i could trust the minibus to get to hereford and back...

honestly not sure yet though, would be up for it but depends on circumstances as i'll probably be knee deep in coursework and revision. i will be able to drive by then but consider me a last resort!

I've researched it extensively, Ash.

As the minibuses are self drive, in that the drivers are not doing for it any kind of reward then none of the relevant Acts apply. As in you can do what you like, go where you like and drink as much as you like. Including sporting events and in particular football.

It also exempts you from PSV regs (that are getting pretty nailed down now) and so on.

Now if Dangerfields supplied a paid driver (for example on one of the trips Yeovil did) then that would be completely different. No booze allowed en route to a match and the driver would be personally liable if caught.

Hence the reason I have steered well clear of previous suggestions including chipping in to pay for the driver's £15, letting them go free etc.

It's pretty black and white and the way I have done it we are in the clear.

As far as Hereford goes, I have checked things out with some Bulls fans about how to avoid any trouble spots and the best boozers outside the city that accept away fans. I will also do as we did for City last season and liaise with the club so we can park close to the ground and take advantage of any security/policing that the away coaches will get.

AA route finder says 66 miles and an hour and a half there from Swindon.

The law seem to be fine with us as they allowed us to join the police escort out with the coaches at City last season.  Obviously not drinking while under their guidance helps, but they were fine when 32 drunks piled out at the Pump House to say hello to them!

I know Hereford have a small history but we do normally advise the relevants of our pending arrivals (such as the pubs) and make sure it's ok (I think plods know which pubs to let people use as well).

On the trips we've managed to get all 98 people back without need for police intervention (apart from Louavo trying to attack the steward at City)

I like the banter, in all seriousness fair play for taking mini buses and organising it, it takes a lot to do it.  As for loud and proud thats everyones choice and you all seem to enjoy it.  Just worries me you do mini buses to hereford and a loud and proud day at lincoln, two games I think may see some trouble from home fans.

Ah, but trouble seems to find those that want it more often than not.  I've been to Sincil Bank and a regular in Lincoln Country, it's quite sedate most of the time.  Equally I've had a bunch of Millwall fans around me and managed to avoid any sort of trouble (must be my smile).  We'll be clever enough to avoid parking up at the worst spots, and we'll be letting people know of our intention to arrive.
