Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: pauld on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 20:14:25 Big thanks to everyone who helped out today and serious congratulations to Rob H for coming up with the idea - we had 1500 hats and ran out at ten past two! Also gave out about 4000 flyers. A fantastic effort from everyone who helped out - if we'd had more hats, we could have got through twice that! More orange for Boxing Day - this isn't just a one-off, its onwards and upwards from hereon in until they get the message.
Very little negative feedback either - the odd one or two - most people really keen to find out what it was about and once told couldn't get hold of the hats etc fast enough. The Town End looked boss, Arkells had little ring of orange hats round the directors box and I'm told the South Stand was pretty Dutch-looking as well. Down the side of the Town End about 2-ish, it looked like a stewards' convention! 3 points in the bag too and bragging rights over the Gas. Just a shame the Rovers' idiots had to put a cloud on what was otherwise a brilliant day Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: donkey on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 20:30:30 In which case, every one of you in orange today rocks :bow1:
I'll be wearing Orange at Macclesfield, which I know Paul won't  Viva, my friends, viva. Donkey Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: Batch on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 21:57:26 Good work people. Didn't get an Orange hat but I had my lycra effect orange che guevara slim fit t-shrt on anyway.
Were the hats expensive to buy in bulk Paul? Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: blinkpip on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 22:20:22 How much did all the hats set you back then?
Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: herthab on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 22:23:40 Does anyone know who the guy in the Holland tracky top was?
He was in the winners before the game. Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: Fred Elliot on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 22:31:08 I just want to re-enforce Pauls comments
Thank you to all the peolple that turned up to help in distribution. Thankyou to janaage for a brilliant idea Thankyou most of all goes to every single one of you that even touched orange today ! I was so so proud to be associated with you today ! Together we CAN make a difference ! Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: pauld on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 22:38:28 I don't know the exact ins and outs on how much the hats cost but they were dirt cheap at that kind of quantity and they were sponsored so didn't cost the Trust.
Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: Fred Elliot on Saturday, December 16, 2006, 22:42:59 Fuck......................I have been so angry this week (I am human after all !)
Dad phoned me tonight and asked what I thought of the game.............. now normally we have the big debate etc etc (which in all honesty he loves), but my reply was; "I dont know Dad, I know we won 2 - 1 but I was too busy watching the crowd" That's not wrong is it ? You lot were brill today Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: justboiledover on Sunday, December 17, 2006, 00:42:22 i saw a couple of (very) old boys each wearing a peice of orange ribbon behind the nationwide, will never apear on a photo and they will be listed by the board as "proper fans who didn't wear an orange hat". The appeal of the campaign crosses generations and the support will grow.
Well done :) Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: Leggett on Sunday, December 17, 2006, 01:09:45 fingers crossed it grows, and starts to make the few who made snide comments and ripped up leaflets and stamped on hats and generally were daft that this is the way forward...

he still wasn't sure what the orange revolution was about and why we would risk upseting SSW when he's done blah blah blah now the old git aint that old! However I spent a long time explaining what i've read through various sources and he eventually came to the same conclusion as I have. What would, in my view, help is if someone with a beter knowledge of IT than me could create a page of quotes, archived from the media, from our board. I can think of dozens of statements that contradict previous statements. The board will be rubbing their hands together after yesturdays pathetic showing. Running out of 1500 hats in under 45 minutes, plus about 4000 flyers handed out (and from what I saw eagerly read) is hardly a failure. Everywhere you looked yesterday there was someone wearing orange. Bearing in mind yesterday was just the start, and that in a 10,000-strong crowd the effect is inevitably diluted, it was a fantastic start to Rob's idea and took off a lot better than I think anyone had dared hope. Remember on Thursday/Friday we were being told "there'll only be 100 of you wearing orange and no-one will notice". As for the board's reaction, well of course they will do all they can to ignore or laugh off the increasingly obvious signs that fans have lost faith in them. Expect a deluge of spin next week. Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: Frigby Daser on Sunday, December 17, 2006, 11:47:02 I just hope people know to wear them to the next game - and for it to gather pace rather than that be the pinnacle. It was great to see yesterday - and hats over t-shirts - far more visible.
Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: mattboyslim on Sunday, December 17, 2006, 11:52:55 The bloke behind me regularly getss on my tits, yesterday more than usual. He said the trust nearly force out the one man who's saved us time and agian, SSW! I couldn't believe the nonsense he was talking, as I remember SSW and his advisors took exception to teh trust for no apparenet reason some years ago, and my recent experience of the trust have been very positive towards the Wills', just not the people who advise them. Short-sighted people, arrrrrggggghhhh!!!!

Millom Already done Millom and Justboiledover Have a look at this 19/9/06 “We have not been approached officially or unofficially by anyone looking to invest in the club,” he said. “If someone came along with an offer that can be substantiated, then the board would be duty bound to put that offer to the shareholders with the appropriate recommendations. – Bob Holt 22/9/06 “There was media speculation about some rift within the board. It is not the case The disappointing news was that because of the seriousness of Bill’s illness and the fact that he won’t be returning to work for at least 18 months, he is unable to fulfil the role at the County Ground that he originally intended, therefore would not be taking up a position as a director or an executive role 26/9/06 the directors have said that should a group or individual demonstrate the financial clout and ability to take the club forward, it would relinquish control immediately. Should a group or individual prove they have the financial backing and management ability to ensure the future of the club ‘an agreement would be formalised and immediately the current board would resign and relinquish the day to day running of the club. – STFC Board Director Bob Holt told the Swindon Advertiser last night: “Some of the things being said out there are totally unwarranted and completely without foundation. “We really hadn’t wanted to say any more once we’d made the statement (about Bill Power’s departure) but felt we had to. “Why should anyone accept comments about cheats and liars and the like?” The director also reiterated the board was deadly serious in terms of listening to offers. 28/9/06 “There is no crisis in the club whatsoever. Bob’s departure has nothing to do with anything rumoured to be happening here. It was a completely personal thing” “I don’t really want to get involved with it all but I want to reassure the fans there is nothing sinister going on”. – Willie Carson 3/10/06 Holt said: “It is what we have all been waiting for to be honest. If someone was to come in with the investment I think you would smell the burning leather as we got out of there. “But until someone does come in with money it would be very unwise to keep criticising them (Devlin and Power) because it could well push them over the edge. I don’t think anyone wants that.” 4/10/06 To conclude, my father and I are distraught by the prevailing attitudes towards us and the current Board of STFC, and it leaves us no option but to seriously consider our future involvement at the club – James Wills 23/10/06 Swindon reluctantly agreed to that request, but made clear they would only release Dennis and Gus from their contracts if suitable compensation were paid by Leeds Regrettably it has proven impossible for the clubs to agree a suitable financial package 8/11/06 “I’m sure Dennis himself didn’t think he was going to leave the club that soon but circumstances came about and he had to go” – Willie Carson 24/11/06 The Board have for some time been discussing with the administrator the requirement for a variance of the CVA. With the additional problem of this years overspend, this years payment has been, with agreement, delayed until the rights issue is completed. The Board are also taking the opportunity to see if they can include this year`s payment in the variance – Following the AGM statement that all CVA payments were up to date 30/11/06 “We will have to try and get sources of funding from outside, try and see what we can generate organically. “The bottom line is that the money Bill put in was used to pay bills and effectively it was used to finance the losses. “If you’ve a cash deficit arising from trading losses the money has to come from somewhere. It either comes in share capital, from loans or ultimately from profits. Bill’s money was effectively used to finance trading losses last year and trading losses at the beginning of this year.” – Martyn Starnes 1/12/06 The continued reference to a Fans Consortium appears to be misleading given that Mr Wilkes is stating he has funding available from an unnamed backer, who we understand is American and not a fan of the club. – STFC Board 1/12/06 It should be emphasised that the Wills family are not actively looking to sell the Club - STFC Board Title: Orange revolution - brilliant! Post by: cavpete on Sunday, December 17, 2006, 12:18:48 Don't think the board could run a bath let alone a club. From what i have read from the club they are running around like headless chickens. Dishing statements and spin willy nilly. We was told by some to get the facts before posting can't the club do the same and we all sing from the same hymm book.

Hey, I don't want to get into a slanging match with the whole orange revolution, which is a shame because I know some brilliant swear words. I seriously hope it achieves it's objective and the sight of such a horrible colour has the board running for the hills. I can't help but feel that it is just delaying the inevitable, what will everyone be wearing next week? Orange hats and angry expressions? maybe the week after you could wave your fists as well. The board will hang on for as long as they can and it will take more than bad clothing to shift them. I understand peoples fears of destabilising the team if things were to turn more vocal but I think The Trust have made it clear on several occasions that the team and Paul Sturrock have everyone's full backing. It becomes a convenient excuse for a shit performance if you ask me. It saddens me but I think things will get nasty before they get better and we should just try and get it over and done with as soon as possible. I'm probably wrong though....I really should stick to threads about cheese, it's quite scary over here. Title: Orange revolution - brilliant!
