Title: The Orange Revolution - The Real Aim
Post by: janaage on Friday, December 15, 2006, 09:58:18
In light of Mr Bennett's comments in today's adver can I just confirm what the whole aim of this is.

It's a visual display of support for the Fans Consortium (FC).  It is not intended to divide the supporters, it is designed to allow those who support the FC to SHOW their support rather than leave this bubbling under the surface only for chants of sack the board to start, groups hanging outside the back of the Arkells baying for blood.

From 3pm tomorrow I will be cheering on the lads like I do at every game, however the one thing I will also be doing is wearing an orange t shirt to show the board that I do not support them.

As for Mr Bennett's comments about "true supporters" doing this and doing that, well the one thing I have tried to do during all of this is to not pressure anyone from doing anything they don't want to do.

If you would like to show the current powers that be that you think they should discuss the possibility of a takeover with the FC wear orange.  if you are happy with the current set, carry on as normal, it's really up to you!!

Thanks for your time.

So according to Nigel Bennett, if you happen to support the Power/Fans consortium and wish to show your support by wearing orange you are not a 'true fan'.

What a load of bollocks.

I seriously wonder what planet some people are on

I've been guilty of taking the piss a little bit out of this whole orange thing due to my belief that orange is a bit of a poofy colour. It's easy to criticise somebody who takes it upon themself to instigate change for the better and of course that is why I do it.

I applaud Janaage for his efforts and for putting himself in the firing line but this part of his statement concerns me slightly

Does this mean that anybody who doesn't choose to dress in orange will be viewed as pro board? Nigel Bennett stating that anybody wearing orange isn't a true fan is ridiculous but saying anybody who doesn't is pro board is equally so. I hate it when the supporters are put in a position where they are forced to make such a choice. I personally feel that it will take positive action to achieve the goal of ousting the current regime and peaceful protest such as this just buys them more time to divide the fanbase further.

Obviously I'd love to be involved in this positive action but I have to put some shelves up and I've got a casserole in the oven.

Why don't you string a load of satsuma together and wear them round your neck, like a french onion seller....................................

But with satsumas instead.

It will work as a show of support and provide a tasty, nutritious half time snack.

Ok after a good night's sleep, sobriety returns.

In answer to your question Mr Spacey, no it doesn't mean you have to wear orange if you're not happy with the current board.  All it means is that you have chose not to visually show that you're not happy.  I and others have decided to show the board that we're not happy, and that's what it's all about.

Like I said yesterday I'm not telling "true" fans ( ) what to wear and what not to wear, I'm just putting this forward as a suggestion, that's all.
