That side could possibly be the most shot shy in STFC history....boasting as it does only 4 players who've ever scored a league goal,  with a grand total of 13 between them.

It said in the Western Daily Press today that Blair Sturrock was a possibility to be named in the squad.

And before anyone says it, I knows he's on trial, but if he's a free agent isn't he eligible to play?

Peacock scored loads of goals for City, didn't he?

Or did you mean league goals while playing for Swindon? If so, that is worryingly shit :|

I reckon there's 11 Swindon league goals in that side but I can't be arsed to check.

J Smith 1? Franchise
Nicholas 1? I can only remember Stockport away
Shakes 2? Swansea away and the cross at home this season?
Pook 1? Grimsby
Peacock 6?

Ricky has 4....I overlooked Pook's effort v Mariners, so it should be 14 between them.

Brownlie and Peacock still injured. He may change to a defensive formation with one up front who has to work his socks off, so that rules out Roberts. On Tuesday he was impressed with Lukas so may give him the start.

Title: Team Against Walsall
Post by: mattboyslim on Friday, December 8, 2006, 20:49:18
Bllody brave move IMHO, at least we'd have options to swtich to 442 if (when needed)  think this is the least optimism I've gone into a game with for ages.  I guess provided he doesn't change the defence and they get back to their best we'll have a chance.

4-5-1 is for shit teams who dont want to win.

Reg, no matter what team I put out surely it would still be very shot shy....

The only one who would add any goals to it would be Roberts.

Or can we ugently call back Monkhouse, he has a whole 3 this season....

I'd rather we went out and attacked them from the off.

we know first hand how frustrating it is when a team comes to your place and stick 10 men behind the ball.

Currently Walsall are 10 points ahead of us, and we want to reduce their lead.

Getting a win would do that....

we are playing 4-5-1 in ONE game, away at the team who are the best team in the league by far

Sturrock said it was 4-3-3, not 4-5-1.

I suppose it depends - If you are attacking it's 4-3-3, if you are defending it's 4-5-1.

Thought all our wide players looked good today.

what i liked a bout today was the following.

smith throwing the ball to vincent, who then worked a great triangle with, brown and zaboub.

smith throwing the ball to jack smith who he worked the right triangle with weston and roberts.

lukas added to each side and holding the ball magnificently, with timlin tucked in in the "makele" role.

i can only see evans replacing timlin, and the possibility of anew left sided player in jan, however i thought brown was very good yesterday closing down well and combining superbly with zaboub and vincent.

great great performance.
