Post by: DiV on Saturday, October 28, 2006, 17:07:45
...was a farce...

I guess it was a private meeting so I'm not aloud to say much, but to me it was pretty much a joke just like everything else at this football club.

...but...it did nothing to re-assure me of anything.

Most of it blatant lies, that didnt even make sense.

I think it's safe to discuss what went on in and AGM :)  It'll be in the adver Monday anyway!

So what went on? Who from the club attended, or rather who didn't...

Didn't go but saw mr Diamandis sneek in very late, presume was to avoif being asked any questions.  Bit of a verbal fight so I heard between Paul D and the Board (Sandy Gray) with Cliff Puffett standing up for the Trust.

the table was Sandy Gray, Martyn whatshisface??! and Bob Holt.

The club are taking legal action and discipline against Mark Devlin.....which seems bizarre because when someone else seriously mis-calculated money (also around 750k :-- ) they didnt even get a vote of no-confidence

I believe Sir Seton was there but not at the table and didnt say anything...

that greek bloke was also around....but I dont think anyone knows who he actually is.

The unamed person Wise couldnt work with, according to the board was Bob Holt...he was the only one Wise fell out which....which is an obvious lie as Bob Holt left almost a month ago.

The board couldnt answer why we have overspent and are cutting costs yet we could offer Wise more money. Seems they are aloud to speculate to accumulate...but if Devlin does it he is out on his arse...

They are inviting people to apply for the managers job and all will be considered, if they find the right man for the job they will make some of Wise' wages available...but then also stressed the point that Adie was welcome to apply for the job and they would serious consider him.

He comes across as an intelligent bloke etc etc etc (exactly the same as they said about Iffy last year!!!)

Fingers crossed Williams calls their bluff and doesnt apply.

They would not mention what we'd overspent on, but they were firmly pointing the finger at Devlin....when questions how he got away with it, it was muttered that proceedurs were broken, hence the legal action

Bill Power owns shares in the holding company.

We have been and will continue to make the CVA payments.

Basically we got the usual crap....

Also the board claimed that after the meeting on that friday (peace talks) it was the Trust who broke the no more statements pact, hence why the board responded with that 'throwing toys out of pram' statement on the Monday or Tuesday. This was shot down as blatant lies....the Trust statement had been discussed with people within the club and had the go-ahead to be put as out...to answers fans questions as to 'what went on at that meeting'

2005 accounts are nearly finished and they expect them to be done by december

Trust were not allowed to hand out leaflets in the winners or concourse area of the ground due to health and saftey  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

I usually post up a full account, but unfortunately didn't make it due to being on the lash last night and not getting up early enough....I could have probably made more effort, but have seen enough of these to know its usually a fiasco.....due to the block vote of the Wills shares....it also pisses me off somewhat that more small shareholders don't vote against the Dunwoody place persons....which although wont make a difference at least should show some level of dissatisfaction.

I listened to Shaun's bit on RS....and it just confirmed the general impression of a rudderless ship....with the faceless Starnes being wheeled out for the platitudes rather than Holt.

Diamandis was sat 3 rows ahead of me with a snazzy top hat on.

Some bloke came and abused him which was ace.

So basically it just summed up what a mess this club is at the moment?

How the fuck did we end up with such a bunch of jokers? Sorry but they make me so angry.

No, journalists were banned. Except for Shaun Hodgetts - apparently they rang him to tell him he was banned from coming and then got all spluttery when he said he was coming anyway as he's a shareholder.

Says something about the organisation that the list of shareholders they were using to check people on the way in appears to be several years out of date.

Are the trust to make any comment on proceedings of the AGM, or would that put them into an undesirable position.

Basically is there any way us non-shareholders can see minutes of the meeting?

I don't think we'd want to make any formal comment but personally I was extremely alarmed that the board refused to even discuss the alleged overspend which, let's face it, should have been the central point of the meeting - any business which has apparently run up an overspend of up to one-third of its turnover should have a damn good explanation as to why to its shareholders. Instead they hid behind what many shareholders openly characterised as a "smokescreen" in claiming that as Mark Devlin was subject to disciplinary proceedings they had legal advice not to discuss either him or the alleged overspend. Which didn't seem to bother them when they were hanging him out to dry in public.

And I think many people were disappointed that despite the fact the board's own statements (and his own come to that) have indicated that Mike Diamandis effectively runs the business or has a very large degree of control in terms of major financial decisions, ground redevelopment, hiring and firing key staff (like Dennis Wise for one), he remains unwilling to sit at the top table and answer questions as to how he has conducted the running of the business. Again, in any normal business the shareholders would expect the people running it to present themselves at the AGM and account for their actions, for good or for ill. Instead we had Martyn "Stonewall" Jackson, Sandy "Whisperin" Gray and Bob "Comeback King" Holt none of whom were either able or willing to answer the key questions.

Cheers Paul, I wasn't really looking for your (or the trusts) opinion, more a factual account of  what was said at the AGM.

Agree with everything you say BTW.

Makes me so angry.

The fact of the matter now is that we've gone from a situation where the club realised the relationship with the board was terrible and needed repairing to one where the the board simply do not care about the relationshop with the fans.

Its simply atrocious.

Sorry Batch, actually DV's summary was pretty reasonable - I just tried to put a bit more flesh on what I think most people thought (judging by the number of questions people asked about it) was the key issue - ie the overspend - and why they refused to answer those questions. 'Pologies if it turned into a bit of a soap-box moment

Cheers for clearing that up. Although we are not all shareholders it is nice to find it where our club is going, if anywhere.

I think it is a disgrace that none of the people responsiblef or the current position are unwilling to attend meetings or openly speak at them and think it is ridiculous how everything is being held back. Shareholders whould be told what is going on in any business.

No at all Paul. Your views are very welcome.

The "not looking for your opinion" bit was just me saying I wasn't trying to get opinion out of you which may lead you to be open to more attacks from the club. Though to be honest I guess your relationship with them isn't best anyway.

Sorry if it didn't read that way!
