Title: New Sponsors of the SPL Post by: SwindonTartanArmy on Thursday, October 19, 2006, 14:24:08 Quote The Scottish Premier League has signed a new £8m sponsorship deal with the Clydesdale Bank. The four-year agreement will begin in July 2007, when the current contract with the Bank of Scotland ends. BoS announced in March it was ending its nine-year sponsorship of Scotland's top flight in order to invest in grassroots football. SPL chairman Lex Gold said the Clydesdale deal would provide a "sound platform" for the league's top clubs. Gold added: "I am pleased to announce that we have agreed a new four-year sponsorship deal with Clydesdale Bank, starting in July 2007. "Following closely on the recent record-breaking TV deal with Setanta, this highest ever sponsorship deal in Scottish football provides a sound platform for our clubs for the next four years." Clydesdale Bank's Steve Reid said the deal represented "a phenomenal opportunity" for the bank to demonstrate its support for Scotland's national game. "More people watch SPL football per head of population than any other nation in Europe," he added. Found the last paragraph interesting. Never heard that before :?
