Post by: Frigby Daser on Friday, October 13, 2006, 13:51:14
Reckon we'll start sorting it out, a 3-1 win - goals from Rhodes, Ifil and Pook (!)

Just spoke to the ticket office and grimsby have returned their allocation so the rest can be sold on the day - they've sold a whopping 44 tickets up there!

5900 crowd.

I think we'll win, but I'll be suprised if we score more than 2. We haven't managed it so far this season!

2.1 Peacock and Evans (If he plays).

The bloke in the office 9not the usual one...(they must have at least 2 working in there now, must be a volunteer) seemed disgusted.

I got straight through as well which would suggest they're hardly inundated right now

I'm not convinced that we have the ability to finish a team like Grimsby off. Therefore it's another draw me thinks.

If we haven't got the ability to finish off Grimsby, who have lost 4 of their 6 away games this season (And drawn the other 2) We might as well get used to league 2........

We WILL WIN..........

Don't get me wrong I hope and pray that we'll win but after witnessing the dominance of the 2nd half at Accrington and still not generating enough chances (in my opinion).

I hope the arrival of Rhodes might spark a goal revival somehow.

You could have quite happily said the same about Boston, who arrived at the CG with a very poor away record, had conceded more than any one else, with  next to no away support, had just been more or less condemned to relegation, by being done for financial irregularities, yet still showed more desire than our lot.  Subsequently Boston lost to Rovers, just to show they are bad.

Clearly this lack of desire, can be directly traced to the machinations of the Board.....we saw it last season and we're seeing it now......nothing has changed if anything, things have got worse....I'd fully expect another 1000 to flake from attending today.

The remnant will start to have a go at the players as things deteriorate, when they should be venting their frustration at the top of the club.

At least Wise have done the subs early enough for an impact.
Shakes gets 34 minutes. Rhodes gets 21 minutes.

Better than Lucas or Fola getting 5 minutes to change the game.

It might encourage us to keep going for more goals rather than sitting back.

Peacock close to offside, raced clear of defence, chipped keeper one-on-one.

BBC:
Goal by Lee Peacock (Swindon) lobbed right-footed (top-right of goal) from left channel (18 yards).Swindon 3-0 Grimsby. Assist (pass) by Andy Monkhouse (Swindon) from left channel.

Compound fracture of his arm. That means broken bone sticking out through skin. Serious. Long lay off.

today was one of the most convincing performances so far this season. They didn't really threat going forward, and didnt shoot when williams was in goal, which didn't help their cause.

I thought that new bloke did ok when he came on. looked lively an all that.

Paul evans must of been playing in a michale pook outfit. that guys class at the moment.

liked it when tht TE were sing "referees a wanker", and then his name appeared on the scoreboard. nice one

I thought the overall intensity of our play was much better. First time since Wycombe that weve really played at our best for a whole game. Thats what Wise has to instill, focus and effort for 90 minutes without exception.

I had a good feeling before the game, just a shame the performances had to dip before it brought the best out of the players. Got to get those 1500 odd casual fans back now.

And as R4E says, it was a relief to see that Thorpe is still moping about, getting no end product.

I was pleased we only flaked off around 500, rather than the anticipated 1000......but to be getting a smaller crowd than the scum, who aren't even a league club....just shows the depths to which the current off field management have taken us.

The Lincoln fixture is looming, and will produce a decent crowd, as Lincoln have the biggest away following for this season, haven't been here for years, have just about the best away record in the land, and have some right nutters. I'd expect them to fill the Arkell's bit. Maybe even get the Bamk open.

And Hereford, which should be an attractive fixture. So hopefully 2 good gates comming up. As for the current off field management, lets hope that the team play well. Because they have absolutely zero ideas about how to boost attendances otherwise. Which is great, its exactly what you'd expect from a company that calls itself 'sports management' (!).

Best not to talk about the scum attendances. Although I did notice that Dagenham are only 2 points off them now.

Looked very impressive yesterday, we bossed every area of the pitch for 96 minutes and looked so solid I actually believed one goal as enough, which made finally putting 3 away extra pleasing. 3 good goals too.

I had a valid reason for being down there yesterday although I can't deny that I was properly mincing down the seafront.

Saw the goals on T'Championship earlier, it's nice to see that we're able to finish properly at last. All three goals were well taken, although Pooky's was a little fortunate as Monky fluffed his shot slightly.

Looking a bit longer term we also have Rovers and Wycombe before the the turn of the year.

I'm particularly looking forward to Rovers....missed the game back in about 01....and the previous game was 95/96.

The worst trouble I've ever seen at the CG was v Rovers, and the recentish attack on the Tap....suggests the family club, has still got more than its fair share of knuckledraggers.

I missed that game in 01 too. Although there was serious trouble down the train station after that game as well. Chance would have it that I was at Didcot station when the Rovers lads were comming back from Scumford earlier this year.

Id never call Rovers a fammily club. In fact I think their fans are some of the most backward and old school Ive ever seen. Proper unfashionable club. Bristol City seem to pick up the chav football factory effect, whereas Rovers' lads are older, but much less in numbers. Their fans are alcoholics. Trouble at Rovers games is unpredictable but violent. And they seem not to have discovered the internet yet   . All in all Im intrigued by Rovers, I think they are pretty unique for a southern club. So its a shame im going to miss the home game again, im in Oz.

Rovers games is unpredictable but violent

Back in the early 80's at Eastville, the Rovers mob organised themselves with CB handsets which at the time were cutting edge technology, this enabled them to send out spotters for Town fans and call up other bits of their mob for a ruck.

We were still using carrier pigeons.
