Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: DV on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 10:42:05 that we had about 10(?) years ago?
An independent body to represent supporters views and improve communitcation between the club and its supports Sounds like what we need now!!! Anyone remember them at all? Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Fred Elliot on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 16:59:05 My uncle was a member
Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 17:44:14 Yep it was one of Rikki Hunt's initiatives......it didn't really work though, as nobody knew who anybody was on it, and there was a bit of a vetting process to ensure a lack of controversial individuals.
Also there was no access to any proper Board meetings Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: STFC Bart on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 17:52:28 That wont have any effect
The only way we will go forward and attract new investors/ get SBC on side is minus Dunwoody and its followers If things stay as they are we will decay more and more. This regime dont have the money to move us forward in any way asthey have shown in the past 5 years, we have gone backwards on and off the pitch. The only way forward for new investment/redevelopment/hope is a whole new broom Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 18:17:40 Probably the only way for the Board to regain any credibility would be to accept a Trust elected person to the Board.
This was something first mooted 5 years ago when the then Consortium regained control of the club. To quote Bob Holt....."STT, has vigorously demonstrated it is determined to help the Club. Consequently The Consortium will seriously consider a position on the Board for STT." (As long as its not Justin Tomlinson) Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? ...or perhaps STFCBart. Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? (As long as its not Justin Tomlinson) If you remember the minutes of the meeting then the consortium was conditional on various undertakings. One of them being fans representation at board level Reg So...............you are spot on ! Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? In a previous incarnation I found myself voting against having a Trust member on the Board at an AGM...because the candidate was JT. At least I would have voted that way, not sure it ever reached a vote. If it did come to it then a proper democratic process needs to be undertaken. I'd try and persuade Yeovil Red to stand. :D Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? If not Yeovil, then Leroy off of MOS would be a strong candidate. Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 20:36:28 Would the current board, with all its current goings on, happily accept a member of the trust to represent the fans? I'm sure they'd be too afraid of rumours/truths getting out. Personally I can only see something like a trust representative happening if the trust had a shareholding.

None of Bob Holt or Sandy Gray have a shareholding and it didn't stop them being on the Board......FB after 25 cans of White Ace would still be more coherent than 66% of our current board.....never seen the remaining 34% at an AGM. Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 20:48:08 Yeah but Bob got sacked when he gave too much away. I'm not saying it can't happen, but with the statements about the Trust and the fans, I just feel the current board would deem it too dangerous to get anyone representing the fans on board.
That said if it did happen it would be a massive step for us and would improve the governance of this football club which presently hasn't been up to scratch. Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 20:51:03 Governance...good word.
It was deemed too dangerous 5 years ago...had it happened the current mess could surely have been avoided. Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 20:53:00 I like using fancy words that I don't know the meaning to
And you're absolutely right on that last point Reginald. Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: DV on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 21:40:59 who was your uncle Fred...
Just mentioned it because when going through some old junk I found the cut out of the newpaper article...seems it was kept as my dad was a memeber of it... I remember going round the empty county ground collection bits of paper out the suggestion boxes... I always felt a bit naughty running round the CG when it was empty Title: does anyone remember the shadow board? Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, 21:42:24 Did the Trust ever approach the DD and IB short lived regime about a fan rep on the board?
