I feel a Barnet-esque performance coming up - all Swindon, but one of those days in front of goal. 1-0

Weather's still looking iffy.
Varying report on whether its going to be like it is now (sunny) or whether we're in for yesterdays weather.

Met Office says there's a storm a-coming, while BBC say now rain until about midnight.

Do you get wet in about row B of the Nationwide?

Post by: Tails on Saturday, September 30, 2006, 09:10:44
Sunny as anything at the moment mate, should be alright although it's supposed to piss it down.

And yes I think you will get wet. But it's not like the Nationwide Stand will be full so just move up if it gets too bad...

Sounds like it's time to get the waterproofs out! That said, it has brightened up here in Melksham...there may be hope.

Can't see anything else than Swindon doing just enough for the win, 1-0 or 2-0. A close scoreline, but a comfortable game. Probably.

Title: SWINDON vs BOSTON MATCHDAY THREAD
Post by: walrus on Saturday, September 30, 2006, 13:56:23
Cox - Evans was poor first half away at Wycombe in addition to the fact he picked up a knock so may not be fully fit.

I'm surprised Fola has been dropped after a good performance at Wycombe.  Maybe Wisey prefers the Robbocock partnership.

I'm not going to predict a score, but I fucking wish I was there today.  Enjoyed Tuesday night, am sorely tempted to go to the Dulux game.

It should still work.

When you pen the link (having changed the hxxp to http) then in the top right of the screen there is a little box where there'll be 3 letters that you have to enter.

Once you've put them in and hit enter it should come up with the file to save.

These late goals are becoming a bit of a joke lately, WHY CAN'T WE FINISH TEAMS OFF??? we should have won at notts county and at wycombe and again today, we just haven't got the firepower and it is very worrying, we cannot keep going on like this.

We're deluding ourselves if we think this league is a walkover. Why do we seem to struggle to break down the lesser teams in this league, yet put in better performances against the better teams. Lack of invention, creativity, killer instinct all spring to mind. Easy to criticise though, we really should have taken all three points today - we didn't, for some totally unknown reason.

Title: SWINDON vs BOSTON MATCHDAY THREAD
Post by: denniswisesbarmyarmy on Saturday, September 30, 2006, 16:07:56
We should have won our last three games and we would have been top we have thrown the last 3 games away, no good sitting back after going 1-0 up you need to get another goal or two to kill them off, we do not know how to kill teams off, wise needs to do something about it, maybe get a loan striker in because to be honest maybe our strikers are not good enough.

As I said above, easy to criticise, so I won't. Are our strikers really that bad, or is the service to them lacking? Frankly, from what I've seen and heard to date, its a combination of both.

Title: SWINDON vs BOSTON MATCHDAY THREAD
Post by: walrus on Saturday, September 30, 2006, 16:34:23
I'm loathed to criticise Peacock and Roberts who are both good players.  Roberts has looked dangerous this season in the games I have watched and I think there is a good partnership there, though with neither being a "finishing forward" we're reliant on goals from midfield, and so far of our midfield players only Evans has looked like reaching double figures.

However, Royce looks a great natural finisher (his goal against Boston was awesome, and his goal at Wycombe demonstrated a cool head in front of goal, almost Parkinesque) and Fola gives us a much needed aerial threat.  I think the pair should be given a run out up front in the game at Adams Cup.

Remember, we're 6 points into the playoff positions, 3 points off top, and second in the league.  It's hardly time to hit the panic button.

We weren't awful today, we created the chances needed to win the game and were quite comfortable. We jut didn't kill them off byt taking the chances.

Boston were comfortably the worst team I have seen at the county ground in quite some time.

However it is only just the end of September and we are only 3 points off top spot in second place. If we can come out of this 'bad' spell we will be looking good.

I didn't think Boston were so bad....they at least tried to play a bit of football, didn't over hoof,  however they are limited.  What they had which enabled them to get a point was  effort and desire.....qualities which we had fir a few games at the start of the season, which have now lost.

It would be convenient to pin this onto the off field stuff, but seeing a mob like Boston have more desire is worrying, as they're more or less certainly down, due to their illegal payments scam.

We should have had a penalty in the 2nd half when their number 5 had his arm wrapped around Peacocks, yet the Ref decides it was a foul on the defender.

Why is it everytime Peacock goes for the ball he gets a foul given against him but when he's fouled the Ref waves play on, im sick of it.

Sounds like we should have won it. After the Wycombe game we all came away saying we need somebody to put it in the net, unfortunately nobody has stpeed up to do it yet

This could be because we don't have good enough players, but I think it is because they go 1-0 and feel secure. Which they obviously shouldn't.

wasn't happy with yesterdays performance. we looked poor at times and although at other times we played some decent stuff we didn't really look like scoring more than 2. could see their goal coming as it would have been just typical of us to concede

Not true, as he didnt take the chances last season...so he wouldnt have this season.

Not to mention the fact, he was lazy and very uninterested...
