Title: How to get rid of the board.... Post by: Run_the_bath on Monday, September 25, 2006, 13:21:57 For those of you who want this board to dissapear, here you have your answer......
"The Board acknowledges that the way the events of the last week have been inaccurately reported have generated anger and frustration amongst certain sections of the STFC fanbase. The Board also recognises the rights of fans protest peacefully and welcomes discussions with fans to air their concerns. The Board, however, cannot condone the personal insults, slurs and attacks that have been directed towards its members and advisors in recent days. Sir Seton Wills has expressed his personal concern, and should the health, welfare and safety of the board and its advisors, their families, or property, be compromised in any way then Sir Seton will have to consider his continued financial support for the club, the consequences of which are obvious." Translation = Carry on insulting and pissing them off and they will cut all ties and bugger off Title: How to get rid of the board.... Post by: Boeta on Monday, September 25, 2006, 13:24:28 he will not cut all ties
he will carry on waiting on in there hoping and praying for a ground redevelopment to recoup some of his money, same as willie carson i just cant believe that they dont realise that football clubs are black holes and you will never get your money back Title: How to get rid of the board.... do people really want the board to just pull out and walk away.....anyone who does is obviously not a swindon fan after all!! If they walk we die.....end of!! I for one appreciate the fact they have gone tot he effort of keeping us informed of the situation and secondly whether people believe it as propogander or truth, i for one appreciate the job MD has done for us over the years..... From the real Swindon Town supporters - thank you MD. If its £750,000 we need a year, why doesnt someone stop slagging off the board and find a way of helping raise the monies?!?! Any ideas anyone? How long ago are we talking and presuming it got that far wouldn’t it have to be announced at an AGM to forward someone as a board member? Title: How to get rid of the board.... Post by: Boeta on Monday, September 25, 2006, 15:49:31 this board aren't and never will be interested in investors, hence why've they've got shot of power
they want the whole lot buy them out so sw gets his money back or they will wait for redevelopment and get it back that way. sw and md arent about to cut their losses they will stick it out its not altogether unreasonable but unfortunately they're aren't many people going about who can afford the job lot straight off and from what they've shown in the skills department over the past few years there's about as much chance of them being able to sort out the redevelopment as there is the pope becoming an islamic terrorist Title: How to get rid of the board.... "Is is rumoured" is not "I have proof" ... which makes me think much of what he's telling us is complete crap. Title: How to get rid of the board.... Post by: RobertT on Monday, September 25, 2006, 16:31:05 I don't think it's true to say they wanted Power out either, just that their actions may well have created the situation and they are unable to admit to them.
I'm sure they are not stupid enough to actually turn down money like his, they did let him in originally. They are just incapable of dealing with such an investor or it appears running the club without imploding every so often. Title: How to get rid of the board.... Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, September 25, 2006, 16:40:35 Spot on Rob. I think they have tried to squeeze Power.
But they were even incompetant in trying to rip him off. They could have probably ripped him off for years, and reaped the benefits of much improved teams and attendances. But no, Mike D has to be the hard bargainer, has to push one step too far. What are they going to get now? They cant run the club, they are a joke. Nightmare. Title: How to get rid of the board.... I'd consider myself to be a Swindon fan and think its now time for this Board and its advisor to step aside, they need to announce a realistic sum, they'd be happy to take as a way of some compensation for their previous efforts.....then we can see who might be interested in taking over. The club connot survive anyway being run in this shambolic fashion....SSW may legally own the club, but morally it belongs to the fans , and I'd suggest a sizeable number would welcome a change of ownership and direction. Simple a poll they should do is who wants us to stay and who wants us to sell up and go. I think 90% of swindon fans would vote that they want them out. The board should listen to what the fans really want and then they should say right we want £3m for the club if someone offers that amount we will all go. Title: How to get rid of the board.... If hes going to have to fight Dunwoody tooth and nail for his money back, probably through the courts so why not put it into a deal instead? Hes the first man here for a long time to be interested in the football move than property. And cockrobin, theres no way the fans will be consulted at all. The only way the fans will get a say is if they impliment direct action, in numbers. £3 million is not a realistic sum. The club has zero assets. Its all a question of what the new owner would have to pay back to SSW, over what timescale. About a million would be realistic. Post by: rockincockinrobin on Monday, September 25, 2006, 17:43:23 Seton Will's needs to wake up and concede that he wont get any of that money back, he need's to wake up to reality and face the fact that the club's worth nothing, he needs to say right i want £1Million for the club and then if someone offers it then him and his bunch of clowns can walk away, it's about time they did have an interest in what us fans want because sooner or later we are all going to get together and push them all out.

If Devlin is coming back this week then could we have expected Power to come back a few weeks or a month or two later? Title: How to get rid of the board.... How the hell do you even know he wants any of this money back??!?! Again, show me some proof of this alligation! The other Newbury based STFC company, was set up with the sole remit of protecting the investment of the Wills family....this if you like is the property arm....which is intended to try and gain some, I suppose, profit or at least claw back some of the cash that has they've spent over the years. As the prospect of this recedes, it is possible they may realise its floghorse and settle for a smallish sum in deference to their efforts. Title: How to get rid of the board.... Post by: pauld on Monday, September 25, 2006, 21:08:43 I would suggest a more realistic route would be some cash up front, and retaining a minority shareholding in the "property arm" as Reg puts it (I like that - do we have a military wing as well?) as a way of recouping some more of their investment should a ground redevlopment happen and make a profit. But, as has been extensively argued elsewhere, no-one is going to pay £10 million for a club that's probably "worth" £1, and if that is indeed being touted as a starting price, it's tantamount to refusing to sell.
