Should've changed our team, given Jon Lewis and others a chance, while its a non-critical match.

Now we'll never know what we'd have played like with a different team.
I think this is weakness from the England selectors and it'll cost us in the long run...

they should had give stuart broad a test debut, after an impressive 20/20 outing on saturday.

I posted before that perhaps the only change, may have been Broad for Hoggy, because he's been looking a bit knackered.....but the selectors have decided, these players got us to this position so deserve to be picked again...after all a test match is an important thing in itself.

Sure, but there's no such thing as friendlies in cricket, so surely this test is the nearest thing.

I just hate the idea of taking someone to OZ as injury cover who's not played for a few years if at all. We might need them. Is it safe to rely on the 'dream team' all the time...

I heard an interview with Broad, and I'd imagine he'll go to Australia,  but the only concern is that he's still growing, at the  moment he's about the ideal size, but the growth could easily be outwards as well as upwards, and may cause a problem.

Don't change a winning team just for the sake of it,especially when we are going along well and there is a bit of positivity about the team, cause lets face it as soon as the ODIs begin we'll start losing again :(

they could have taken borad into the squad for the experience but we are bulding a side for the ashes and should be picking our best side in this game because the next one we play will be in adelaide

I think the selectors are right, need to just have one more game as a squad. whether or not this first eleven will start the ashes is another matter. fringe players will probably get a chance in the one dayers at some point, usually do as we get thrashed.

We don't yet know what proof of ball tampering Hare will come up with, but what a different game cricket is to football with all it's diving and cheating at the highest level. Honour and fair play thankfully still does mean something in cricket. Despite Pakistan's dodgy past, Inzimam does seem an honest guy.

a fair point if it was another country but pakistan still has the stigma of ball tampering hanging over it and therefore to be accused of it when they believe they did nothing wrong has huge implications

i don't think they were refusing to play, just delayed coming on after tea to make a point. daryl hair effectively ended the day's play by taking off the bails and it all got rather more confusing as a result.

the game should be forfeited though...

Title: Fourth test

If they were delaying they should have just said "we're delaying" and everyone could have just got on with it. I think they've only changed to saying they were delaying because then the game shouldn't be forfeited.

Daryl Hair is a legend anyway - he was the one who kept no-balling the chucker (Murali)!

No smoke without fire. Check out their history:

In 2000 Waqar received a one-match ban for ball tampering following a one-day international against South Africa in Sri Lanka while Azhar Mahmood was fined for "abetting" the infringment in the same match.

The Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, ruled out of the current series with because of an ankle injury, received a reprimand in November 2002 for the same offence after a Test match against Zimbabwe in Harare.

And the following year, in May, Shoaib was given a two-match ban for ball tampering after a one-day international against New Zealand in Dambulla.

Yes, so instead of protesting properly they decided to stay in the Pavilion. That's what cost them the game.

I'm not sure of all the history between Hair and Pakistan, but i do know he was the umpire who gave Inzy out in the last series we played in Pakistan, when Harmy chucked the ball at the wicket, prompting poor Inzy to jump out of the way for fear that he'd get injured.
Any other umpire than Hair and Pakistan might not have got so pissed off,he does seem to have a problem with them.Having said that, what Inzamam did was wrong, you can't do what he did,its not cricket :nono:

I didn't mean for the rest,i just meant we're shit at ODIs,it'll save a lot of pain if the series is called off :(

Clearly the ICC will need to throw the book (not the Koran though) at Inzamam ....which wil mean the tourists will probably boycott the series.

It would be for the best not to bother with fixtures v Pakistan in the future.

Afridi comments are very interesting.

Plus if inzi his found guilty of on the charges against him on friday i can see the odi series and the 20/20 game be called off.

Very conveniently the hearing has now been postponed until after the one dayers.....so EWC wont lose any money then the book can be thrown at Inzi.
