Title: Graffiti Post by: oxford_fan on Monday, July 24, 2006, 23:15:22 some photos from a recent event in the US:
http://www.prhymemates.com/community/viewtopic.php?id=381 http://www.12ozprophet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109619 don't know anything about the stuff myself, but its one of the "4 elements" of hip-hop (the others are breaking (dancing), mc'ing and dj'ing), of which i'm a big fan. what are other people's opinion on graff? i can't stand the silly tagging ("BAZ" writen exactly the same way 500 times across a city), but i think the stuff in the links above is amazing. the more of it the better, livens up what would otherwise be a boring bit of concrete. Title: Graffiti Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, July 24, 2006, 23:23:11 I liked it when the signboards on the A420 eastbound....had O*frod crossed out and Scumsville inserted.
Title: Graffiti Post by: sonic youth on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, 00:02:19 they still do.
it also has swindon crossed out and replaced by scum on the a420 as you head into swindon too. Title: Graffiti Post by: Bennett on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, 07:23:08 i like the pretty colours
but really i have no problem with either tagging or larger more arty scale graffiti. two of my favourite artists at the moment have their roots in graffiti. http://www.haring.com/index.html http://www.kinseyvisual.com/ tagging although i don't mind it i find a bit retarded when it's someone just writing something as you would anyways, but when it becomes stylized i think it becomes a different matter has anyone been to the clifton area of bristol recently? banksy has done an awesome piece in a really hard inaccessable area http://www.bbc.co.uk/bristol/content/images/2006/06/23/203_300_banksy_203x300.jpg (it's a shite pic of it, but you get an idea of the scale, and if you know bristol at all you'll know that's a bridge looking onto the side of a building) Title: Graffiti Post by: Cookie on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, 07:46:16 I can't stand tagging, fuckin black marker pens on every bench, signpost, post box looks shit.
Like OF I like the decent stuff. There's a recent addition of some graffiti down Kemble Drive near the steam museum celebrating 200 years of brunel and I quite like the stuff under the railway near the oasis. Title: Graffiti Post by: Piemonte on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, 09:29:14 shoot them all. Its pointless vandalism from kids who "tink dey is gansta"

Title: Graffiti Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, 13:17:52 I like the Banksy style stuff, stencils tend to look the most impressive, it's best when done with a sense of humour. I liked the graffiti he did on the west bank security barrier.

Title: Graffiti Post by: Doore on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, 13:35:53 It appears that it has become known that homosexual intercourse with me is bookable by phone. I would like to make a statement denying this illegal advertisement, and will be contacting my legal representatives to discuss further legal proceedings against the publisher of this libellous and potentially damaging allegation.
I have nothing more to say on the matter.
