Well it's an absolute disgrace that we missed out on Simon Yeo cos he's ace he is.

Failing that, Royce Brownlie sounds like he's worth a shout possibly. Fola whatsiname doesn't sound too bad either.

If that Aussie dude does well out in Ibiza i think Wise will sign him no doubt.

The only reason we didn't sign him before was because we got Parkin instead (apparantly!)

So may well be worth a shout. Let's see how he performs out in ibiza

Klose was playing non league football up until about 1998. Then he got to play in 2 world cups and finish as top scorer in the last one. That's pretty ace.

I thought that; but i guess they read the other way round; so 24 games last season; that would make more sense.

fair point, but neither of us know for sure how many have been genuine injuries, how many have been down to drinking.

you can't rely on him to play 46 games a season though, he's still an alcoholic even if he's sober. things could take a turn for the worse at any time.

i'm not a betting man ;)

i do think he's going to have a stormer of a season though, he's got a lot to prove to himself, the club and the fans and i'm sure a successful season on the pitch will mean a happy christian off the pitch.

Another striker would be nice, but is not exactly priority at the mo.  To me, it seems that maybe the midfield could do with another body.  Apart from weston and pook, noone else in th centre is capable of playing a full season.  Also, signing another striker sends out a negative message to the likes of Caton, Holgate and Lukas J.  As for Roberts, Wisey seems to have faith in him, and he works with him everyday.  If he has faith, we should do too.  His ability is surely not in question, and if his attitude is right, he can be a key asset.

I have to disagree Doore. Unless the big man whatshisface comes good I think we do need another striker. Roberts/Peacock won't be effective or available every game, we need someone who can come in.

I am going to be slated but I am not 100% convinced RoboCock can provide all the goals we need to be pushing for promotion. I could be wrong though, I usually am!

Caton, Holgate and Lucas. We haven't seen Caton so I assume he is still firmly youth team. Holgate and Lucas show promise, but I am not sure they are quite there yet.

fair point Batch.  what about the midfield though?  I'm still convinced another central player is necessary.  Whalley won't manage too many games, Gurney has never convinced me in there, ditto CCP.  Holgate has been used there in the two friendlies, but this is surely just through necessity.

I agree, unfortunately. It seems whenever we get our hopes up for something it falls to peices. Having said that, both are looking extremely sharp in pre season and are linking up nicely. I am now beginning to think they could be a real force next season, not as prolific as Sammy and Mooney, but enough for us to get somewhere next season.

we have enough strikers....

Peacock and Roberts will deliver....Jutkiewicz is ample enough back up, so what hes young......he is fucking good....

I still think we need another keeper, central defender, central midfielder and right winger

I just can't see BOTH of Peacock and Roberts hitting 20. I'd be happy if both got 15 tbh.

It's not about age it is about where he is at right now in terms of development.  I think he could turn out to be superb, but I think he needs more time to adjust to first team football. If today he were a 25 year old trialist I wouldn't sign him.

Watch him bang in 15 goals this season now :)

A keeper and a central defender would be higher on the shopping list for me. If we can't sign a forward we have the tall guy to try out up front for now.

i think people have to realise that lukas has been given this professional contract for a reason, wise obviously think he can do a job in the long term and i'm sure he'll be involved throughout the season.

as such, we've got the two senior strikers and two youngsters/backup strikers who will provide competition for the starting slots. they'll be hungry and eager to improve, despite the talk of fola being lazy and unwilling to work hard i've seen no evidence of that in both friendlies.

that said, i would like to see us sign brownlie. he looks like a lethal finisher and with good service, he'll do well.

I think Brownlie is decent too, trouble is if he signs that relegates Lucas to 5th choice striker and is unlikley to play barring an injury crisis or the odd LDV game.

Wise said:

“Lukas has impressed me, he’s impressed me a lot. I like him. He’s a young boy but he’s a man.

“He is an important part of my squad. He’s strong, aggressive and a good finisher.

“He’s one for the future. We don’t want to put too much pressure on him.

“I’m sure he’ll play a part in this season and hopefully get us a few goals.

“If he gets in there, gets his chance and scores goals, he’s capable of staying in there.”

Looks like Wise realises his potential and should give him his chance sooner rather than late.

Jutkiewicz was thrown into the deep end at the tail end of the season and was given an impossible task.

I felt that he bossed the Bristol City defence around really well at Ashton Gate, and the City defenders struggled... Put a veteran up there with him and I think he'll be great in League Two.
