Title: First game of the season
Post by: BerkshiresFinest on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, 09:21:58
Who do you want as your Div 2 opener? Accrington Stanley, Hereford, Darlington.... what choice you have!! :D  :D  :D

I would like to start our Premership campaign against Man Utd or Arsenal away. Either way we will probably get spanked!!

Was going to be a long hard season with him, so without him it will be even harder. He aint gone yet though!

True... But he's shown you that he's used you lot as a stepping stone club. Ditched Reading when you need him the most. Nice.

Like i said he has'nt gone yet but if he does go then good luck to him. I would like to think that we are more than just Sidwell. He has turned down £12k a week to stay and if he gets the £15k he wants at Charlton then he should take it. We all want him to stay as he is probably our best player but i will welcome him back if he were to go.

A northern team away for me.  Don't want Rovers as we don't get enough tickets, or not for a opening day game anyway.

I started supporting swindon in the year 2000, but when I say i've been supporting swindon for 6 years it sounds better  8)

My sister is 4 years younger than me and has been going with my dad since she was about 5 so she always uses that against me.

Although I was born in Swindon I have lived away from the area for most of my life, moved back to Cirencester 4 Yrs ago. Up until then I had no real interest in football in general, then sister in laws fella (who has supported Swindon for over 20yrs) got me a ticket to Blackpool during the playoff season. One game was enough to get me hooked, bought the end of season ticket that season and had a full season ticket ever since. I was 29 when I first attended a game. It doesn't mean I support the team any less than those who have done since childhood, in fact my now brother in law who first got me into STFC now only attends "big" home games.

I spent most of my childhood turning down offers to go and watch City 8)   One of my best mates was a Swindon fan and after talking to him one day I decided to listen on the radio to the game vs. QPR at home in the Premiership, then convinced a couple of lads we should go on the Saturday, and the rest as they say, is history.

i love your story of how you[and your better half :) ] got into us,its brilliant! It seems like a kind of conversion :D
Coming from Didcot,my Dad decided to take us to a game, but we didn't have a local team really so my Dad picked a team with a good ground, bit of a shit reason  At the time that meant us[it was during the Hoddle era too i confess]cause Readings and poxfords were cowsheds basically.I've never regretted it ever :beers:

The league computer has a few stops on it for first game of the  season.....no derbies....no seaside unless its Grimsby.

There appears to be a certain mileage equation.....Yorkshire or Wrexham seems a popular venue.....or they'll visit us.  Stanley would be a possibility...

What's wrong with Hartlepool away? We've got to go there at some stage so we might as well get it out the way.

I bet there's still a f****** freezing cold wind whipping in off the North Sea even in August!

you can get a train from Bristol/Cheltenham to Newcastle but even that will take hours
