When it is banned in pubs I will stop going to pubs.  A pint without a fag just isn't the same.  Of course, it wouldn't stop me going to the CG, but god help people sat with me if we are not playing well!

I suffered from someone else drinking.  He threw me down concrete stairs.  I had 10 stitches above my eye.  Ban drinking everywhere, innocent people get hurt.

Just to make a point through exaggeration.  Its a true story though.

The difference is that person was breaking the law.  Causing violence due to drinking is already quite banned I think

Chinese food?  Portaloos? certain brands of perfume?

I'm a reformed smoker but I would never support a total smoking ban in football grounds.

On the point of giving up I know full well it is hard to do and it is a matter of free will BUT I would point out the cash saving involved.

After I gave up I was able to buy two new cars and go skiing every winter. (Yes... I smoked A LOT!!!).

not neccesarily a good thing, do you actually want to be able to taste watered down lager?

i don't like the smell of b.o. but i wouldn't ask the club to ban smelly people from entering a football ground.

Possibly, if some ugly wench wearing pungent perfume had tried to get you into a portaloo at a concert after bumping into you next to a Chinese food stall?

In the past i've had a season ticket behind chain smokers and it does tend to get fucking annoying. Wouldn't have any problem with a ban myself.

Title: no smoking stadium?
Post by: magic8ball on Friday, June 9, 2006, 15:49:43
I don't smoke, and I can only remember once when I've been bothered by a smoker sitting directly in front of me.

It was the Brighton play-off game at the CG, and I was sitting directly behind Andy "chain cigar smoking' King.

Would he have been banned from smoking if the rule came in?

I really have no problems if they ban it, and I really don't care if they don't ban it.

Yeah ban it.

I've given up for 9 months, so I would say that wouldn't I???

I gave up almost 3 months ago and towards the end of the season I had a bloke in front of me who chain smoked. It made me realise just how much it does stink, it acctually made me feel sick by the second half. I counted one game and he smoked 14 fags. I dont nescesarily support a total ban but also dont really want to sit next to or near to someone who smokes to that extent, I certainly didn't, I had 4/5 at most.

What a fucking joke, football is all about Tradition, you should be able to enjoy a beer and a smoke if you want. This is coming from a non smoker.

Dirty habbit, but it has a place in football!

I smoke, but don't during games when people are sat crammed in next to me because the smoke blows in people's faces etc and it's just inconsiderate and it's not like they can get up and move away (well, they could, but seems a bit harsh they should have to move cos I want to smoke). But, then I make up for it by chainsmoking at half-time in the concourse! Smoking ban in the stands is one thing, but in the concourse as well would just be inhumane.

It'll happen though, whatever we want - it's all part of the sanitisation of football. Couple of years, there'll be no-swearing sections, then an all non-swearing stadium. F**k, I'm starting to sound like Reg!

I don't smoke.

I'm not fussed whether people smoke at football matchs or not. The amount of 2nd hand smoke I've breathed in makes smoking at football irrelevant.

My earliest memory going to watch Swindon is entering the Arkels with the smell of cigarettes everywhere! It's a nostelgic thing I'm quite fond of!

We're entering the world of 'family club football' and therefore expect a ban on smoking.

I generally dont have a problem with it...but then no one sits by me so I dont get much second hand smoke.

However there was two occasions I think this season when a guy was smoking a cigar....now that fucking stank out the whole stand....that should be banned!

I think a smoking area would be better, and more fair. Personally, I dislike smoking, it does not really repulse me though but it does piss me off when someone smokes in your face especially when there are young children around as that to me suggests they are arrogant and really could'nt give a monkeys.

TBH I would not be suprised if alot of our fans smoke, we do support swindon town after all :-))(

I'm a seasoned non-smoker and I couldn't give a toss. So long as smokers show some consideration to those around them, let them be.

I've been in enough pubs and inhaled more second-hand smoke on my free will than I care to imagine. Not that I would be happy if I was sat near to someone blowing smoke in my face though.
