Title: wise's managerial record Post by: sonic youth on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:16:38 Code: Games Won Lost Drawn http://www.soccerbase.com/managers2.sd?managerid=1881 not really relevent but it was just on sky sports news 8) Title: wise's managerial record Post by: DV on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:18:47 see to me that doesnt look that brilliant....and I dont think Wise has really done that much in management....
Still willing to give him a chance, however the way some people are going on youd think he had been managing for years....and had achieved loads... Title: wise's managerial record Post by: sonic youth on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:19:48 cheer up
Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Sussex on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:20:31 Just saw that, and Mark Devlin interviewed in the boardroom in front of the trophy cabinet.
Hasn't been opened for so long I doubt anyone remembers where the fucking key is! Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Tails on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:26:21 Apart from getting Millwall to the FA Cup final.
Title: wise's managerial record Post by: reeves4england on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:27:09 I'm not bothered about his record. None of those games were as manager of STFC. None of those games involved the players in our squad. None of those games were in League 2....
His managerial record means very little to me! I just hope he can do a good job and I'm looking forward to finally having some bite in the middle of the park! Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Melksham Red on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:27:46 Its better than Iffys record thats for sure. And at a higher level.
Title: wise's managerial record Post by: DV on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:29:46 Quote from: "Tails" Apart from getting Millwall to the FA Cup final. Steve McMahon got us to the League Cup Semi-Final Does that make him a good manager? Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:32:36 Just over 1.5 points a game is respectable though VD
Title: wise's managerial record Post by: DV on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:37:13 Quote from: "simon pieman" Just over 1.5 points a game is respectable though VD I agree....but still its only 80 odd games. Im not doubting his record is decent enough for now, but he has only had 18 months in management. If you had taken Steve McMahons managerial record after one season he would have looked like the best thing since Brian Clough....and we all know how it eventually turned out. Management at each club is so different, different fans expectations, different board expectation, different players, different money etc....just because Wise did alright at Millwall doesnt mean he will do alright here (I hope he fucking does though) I just think some people are going over the top at how good a manager Dennis Wise is because he got Millwall to the FA Cup final (lets be honest, fairly easy route) that was a one off....for now at least.... Think there are a lot of reservations about Wise amongst some well respected Town fans, but the die is cast....so lets roll with it. Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:43:30 I understand that but you're one miserable cunt aren't you
Lighten up. Wise has done more in management than Iffy, so I think people are happy because on that basis he should be better than Iffy. Wise has done more in management than Iffy, so I think people are happy because on that basis he should be better than Iffy. I agree with what you're saying [bar the miserable cunt bit!] but the key word in your second paragraph is should....If he doesnt excellent, fantastic, brilliant...but there is no gurantees. This time last year we had a similiar situation, everyone getting hard ons over Cureton and Thorpe....talking about how they would get 20 goals each and fire us to the play offs. Looking at their record, they should have been capable of getting a decent amount of goals, unfortunatly for us they were fucking shit... On that basis, I'm not going to get carried away and talk about how Dennis Wise is going to lead us up the leagues like Macari did! Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Reeves for King on Friday, May 19, 2006, 16:55:18 I'll give him a chance to prove himself and support him as our manager but I still really can't see the point in appointing him. If they felt they had to appoint anyone I would have appointed Ian Holloway (if they had the chance of course; we'll probably never know if they did).
Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Friday, May 19, 2006, 18:06:45 i dont think his record is a fair reflection of his time in charge at Millwall. he got them to the FA cup final and they only just missed out on the play-offs. not bad really
Title: wise's managerial record Post by: RobertT on Friday, May 19, 2006, 18:12:56 Just missed the play offs twice I think, plus the cup final (which is a good effort regardless of opposition).
Average of 1.48 points per game at a club that was by no means in the top 10 biggest ones in the Championship. Anyway, I think it's more the prospects he brings of knowing a fair number of better contacted people in the game and the big one for me is... ...he'll be the best player in our team most likely, even at his age (getting rave reviews from Cov fans) Poyet could also prove very handy. he has his coaching badges I believe and has spent some time working with the youth development in Uruguay. Bring a few over from that Country and Gurney will be made to look a pussy cat! Title: wise's managerial record Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, May 19, 2006, 19:33:25 1.5 points a game tends to get you near the playoffs, that's a decent record.
Title: wise's managerial record Post by: DMR on Friday, May 19, 2006, 19:36:34 Fuck the stats, things like he got Millwall to an FA Cup final are what we should focus on.
