To be fair, neither side were better than the other. Both played extremely well and barca pushed at the end to get two goals so good on them.

Tierry is such an amazing player, as is l'burg. Their keeper that came on did well too.

I'd have liked to have seen Liverpool win again this year, though Chelsea would be worthy winners.

I hate barcelona and ronaldinho. He's so over rated it's unbelievable. I admit he's a good player but people talk about him as though he can do no wrong and is a god. He has been terrible for the last couple of games in the champions league and done fuck all for 89 minutes per game. The player trying to get the ref to get his cards out was Edmilson - a defender - meaning he had to run from his own half to the edge of Arsenal's box.  In my eyes that's worth a booking in itself!

Unlucky that for the Arse, I thought they may just have had it in sight tonight and then Barca scored.

Second goal was always guaranteed but a slight shame it was lucky effort, Arse could probably have seen a bit more opportunity on the counter at 1-1.  As soon as that second effort went in Barca sat back and took the piss in the possession stakes.

Ref was all over the place as well nothing to much in the way of a major faux par but a bit fucked all the same.

Finally, good to see twinkle toes pair Sol and Cole both have solid games tonight.

i don't like barca cos i'm a plastic real madrid 'glory supporter' but i don't see why people shoul dget behind arsenal because they're english.

if it was chelsea or liverpool, i'd feel differently as they've got more of an english core but arsenal's team is just full of players from france and their colonies

Liverpool didn't have many English players and I would have preferred they had more when they won but their success was built upon their key player and captain Gerrard who is English and another of their key players Carragher was also English. Arsenal in the champions league have often had a team with no English players at all.

the ref was abysmal, if only he'd waited a second to see the advantage it would have been an even better match probably.

thierry was steaming in the post-match interview, wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he got a fine for that.

as daz says, asher c and sol looked good though, which is good news for england.

Chelsea aren't my gold standard but again their two key players are English and Cole is an important player too. Liverpool and Chelsea both have an English core,  even with Campbell and Cole Arsenal's key player is still Henry. This is another reason I like Spurs, most of their team is Engish.

Arsenal had the chances to win the match despite only having 10. Well played but not much of a consolation.

Barca Goofy and Greedy were reasonably quiet (Ronaldinho & Eto'o). Some of there players were a disgrace with the card waving and amature dramatics. But we knew that already.

Larsson changed the game with 2 bits of quality.

The ref was out of his depth. The red card was fair but a better ref would have allowed play to go on and yellowed Lehman. It's all well and good spreading the ref tasks between UEFA countries, but some of those countries don't have the big matches. No suprise the refs are shit when they come into a big game then....

don't forget eboue's dive for arsenal in the first half was quite amazing  :wink:

Isn't it great to see Wenger and Henry crying about the ref.  He disallowed a perfectly good Barca goal (and gave them a free kick), then gave you a free kick for nothing, from which you scored.  Then you say the goals were offside, which they weren't.

The ref WAS bad. Not for either side in particular I don't think, but simply incompetant. As mentioned above he was out of his depth.

The Barca players waving imaginary cards were fucking crap. I hate when they do that. And they did it alot. Arsenal's Lauren recieved a second booking for doing that in a game earlier this year/last year. The defender fella ran the legth of the pitch to do it too!

Arsenal weren't outclassed and in fact created the better chances even with 10. If they had manged to put away one of those second half chances it would have been all over.

And the equaliser was offside.

Cole and Campbell were very good.

i don't know how campbell and cole at the back could have been more 'core'. henry did little after the opening bit and the two english players (cole in particular) were on top form.

liverpool have 3 english starters (carragher, gerrard, crouch), chelsea 2/3. they're all as bad as each other in that respect.

I'm not just talking about last night and I don't think you get what I mean by core I mean Chelsea and Liverpool have English captains and vice captains, they have foreign players but unlike Arsenal they never field entirely foreign teams.

Fowler often starts for Liverpool too so both Liverpool and Chelsea have 4 regular starters as Wright Phillips started 15 times last year.

I'd prefer Liverpool and Chelsea had more English players too, I think it's good for English football for the English players to be playing at the best English clubs.

Personally i couldnt give a fuck about how many English players are playing for a side, if Swindon had 11 Foreigners and were successful then it wouldnt bother me, although neither is going to happen.

Eto'o plays up top on his own and Ronaldinho plays left wing, so Eto'o expected to score more goals

Ronaldinho is not a striker, therefore isn't expected to get many goals, so it isn't fair to rate him on goals alone. I'm sure his assist tally is alot higher. Henry has the highest goals-to-games ratio in any of the top divisions in Europe this season (according to Soccer AM). Personally, i'd say Henry is the World's best player

i watch alot of spanish football .i just think he is as good as these players you mention his goal record speaks for itself,ronaldinho is a great player to watch i agree and henry is also a great player who scores goals,,but what im saying is when it matters eto seems to be the one who constantly gets the goals,we saw the difference the other night between the two players..

There is this film out soon (maybe now, dunno) about the New York Cosmos and the rise of American 'Soccer' in the 70's with Pele, Best, Marsh etc. There was a clip where Rodney Marsh was playing against Pele, and to wind him up he kept telling Pele how he was much better than him and calling him Peter!! Later in the match Marsh was taking the piss and Pele totally hacked him down for a penalty! The ref was going to send him off before he remembered it was Pele and the fans would have gone nuts had they sent him off!
