I thought that if you wanted to change the names on plane tickets, you had to pay to do it ? Thats what my friend had to do I think.

A lot of them will change but you may have to really push for it and it'll cost you a bomb.

As a suggestion I'd play at the heartstrings give your mate cancer and say it's his bestest friend that's going to for him.

If you do it over the phone always demand to speak to a manager they're far more likely to cave in than a phone chimp who may not have the power to alter it anyway.

It depends on the airline. Easyjet for example, do let you change the name for about £30.  If it is BA or Lufthansa though, there's no chance I am afraid :?

Its German Wings a dodgy German budget airline I think.

I phoned them and all I could get was the tax back but that was it.To be honest I think im fucked trying to get the germans to change procedure.Never mind the lads paid the ticket it just would have been nice if someone else could use it rather than the airline profiting.

Most Airlines charge a fortune to change each detail on the Plane ticket, which is why my mate ended up going to New York by himself.  :?

Dazza is spot on there. Play the terminal illness card and sadly enough it normally gets you somewhere but some airlines are even pedantic enough to require proof in a lot of cases, ie  doctors note stating not to travel.

Have you tried Air Berlin?  They have some availability a few days ago, so did Excel Airways......good cheap option and had return tickets for £70
