Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: danny121 on Friday, May 12, 2006, 16:19:17 Which League side has suffered the most relegations? I kno weve been relegated a few times over the years, stuggling to think of a team whos been relegated more? It would be nice to be able to claim to be the most shat on fans in English football.

Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: land_of_bo on Friday, May 12, 2006, 17:12:11 Prob someone like sheff utd or charlton, both were real yo-yo sides late 80's/early 90's...

Depends whether you count in the the relegation through 2 divisions we managed without kicking a ball. In which case we've had 6 relegations in that period and 6 promotions. The scum have managed 5 relegations in that period and 1 promotion. You'd have to be going some to manage 7. Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Friday, May 12, 2006, 19:47:00 I don't think anyone can beat us on that score!
It's amazing to think that over the last 20 odd seasons when we've been here there and everywhere, there are clubs around like Rochdale, who have not moved out of the bottom division. I don't think they've even been involved in any last day of the season 'must win to stay in the league' ding dong doos! I say clubs like Rochdale, but they are probably about the only club to have remained in the bottom league for all that time  Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: Nomoreheroes on Friday, May 12, 2006, 20:36:32 Crewe, QPR, Oxford, Sunderland, Sheff Wed, Swindon, Torquay & Watford would all be high in that form table !

Think people just want to know out of a matter of interest? Could just prove to be something interesting to mention somewhen? Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, May 13, 2006, 10:02:45 Its reasonably easy to work out but takes time....Crewe I reckon to have done about 4.
Another, who've had possibly 4, would be Derby. If you only count our playing relegations we're a fourer as well. The scum have to have been the least successful club in the country in that time, having dropped the most pyramid positions and claiming by the end of the previous season the unique record of having lost to all the other 90 clubs (I exclude Wimbledon ) as they're currently non league. Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: Tails on Saturday, May 13, 2006, 10:22:52 Man City have been up and down a bit haven't they?

Only 3 relegations in that time by my estimate. Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Saturday, May 13, 2006, 10:42:04 If you count 1986, I think Carlisle have 5.

Well I'm taking the last 20 years to include the 85/86 season.. Cardiff are another club who yo-yo'd between L1 and 2 for a while...Plymuff may have had a few too. Can't really be arsed to check it.... few :guinness: last night. Title: Over the last 20 years Post by: Bedford Red on Saturday, May 13, 2006, 10:53:32 Quote from: "OOH! From 1974 to 1990 they finished in the bottom half every season and have been in the play-offs only once I think; losing to Rushden and Diamonds 5-4 on aggregate in 2001-02. So I'd much prefer what we've been through and have promotions and relegations rather than remain in the same league for 30+ yrs with not much hope of getting promoted. |
