...and with it a long journey north...a loss for any cockle picking enthusiasts amongst our number.

 Eric Morecombe came from Morecombe.

Stan Laurel from Ulverston.... (and Norman Gifford)

Don't think so but they have the legendary Jamie Pitman who used to play for us.

Pitman came from Warminster where his father ran Warminster football for years......don't know whether he still does as i've not been involved for a few years now.

He is still fighting to get fit. He had a serious ankle injury last year. Like the most of his career.

But next season, should see him return.

I always like him when he played for us, was sad to see him go. Think he only scored for us once tho with a dodgy bundled attempt, did he even get a welsh cap? think i remember him playing for wales one day and then us the next

Nah, sorry.

My mate Oli was at uni in Lancaster, we fancied a good competitive game of bowling one weekend whilst visiting him, Morecombe was the nearest bowling emporium.

Andy Williams, whilst looking for a club a few weeks back, worked for my dad as a temp in the employment service.  The old man was well chuffed that he got to boss an ex-town player.

I looked and looked at this, wondering what the subtlety was - and now I have to conclude that you just can't spell Morecambe, Reg.

or am I still missing something...
