Title: Realplayer is crap!
Post by: Rossi on Sunday, April 30, 2006, 22:54:30
I hate websites with videos on them that use realplayer.  I'm trying to watch some videos on the BBC site of the snooker and it keeps freezing the picture but continuing playing with just the sound, then every so often the picture changes, so I get about 1 frame per 5 seconds.  Is there anyway I can just use quicktime? With that you can see how much of the video is sort of downloaded with the little grey bar that fills up on the seek bar

to be honest I prefer realplayer streams to that of the stuff which uses wmp. You can genreally blame realplayer with your connection to whereever is streaming it. streaming wmp is shit, and unless it's imbedded I tend to copy links into VLC

Do a search for 'Real alternative' in Google and you should find the codecs to make it work in Windows Media Player. That having been said, might not sort the connection issues out, but at least you won't have to use that God awful software ...
