Title: Something to cheer us all up.
Post by: Sade on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, 15:23:55
:(  Nasty weather and swindon doing badly, can't wait for the summer now. We all deserve a break!

But anyway to those of you that are going on holiday this year I thought we could start up a thread where you can post some pictures of where your going on holiday to if you can find any and tell us all a bit about it. Or if you have been on holiday somewhere nice before, post some pictures too.
:D Seeing pictures of beaches and swimming pools and sun cheers me up. Don't know about anyone else.

Last year I went to cyprus and said it would be my last family holiday but now it looks as if my last one will be this year!

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c258/Sadie09/arenal_den_castell.jpg

For the 6th time we're going to arenal den castell which is in menorca/minorca :D  Really looking forward to it now.
It has the longest beach out of all the baleric islands and spain and its such a beautiful beach. Although its nice, I still prefer staying around the pool because the sand becomes irritating after a while and it annoys me.
We stay in an apartmeny thats owned by my dads friend and a big pool is shared with all the other people who own apartments there(can't find a picture). The nightlife in the town is quite good and we've made a few friends in some of the restaurants who recognise us everytime we go back  8)  One man we know owns a bar and it has loads of football shirts hung up in it and I gave him my old swindon shirt a couple of years ago so it will be interesting to see if it is still there.
Only bad point really is that this place is swarming with german tourists too so you have to watch your sunbeds. they're ok really, me and my family had a game of football with a family of them on the green once.

Hmmmm but yeah thats it really. I feel better already!

Feel free to talk about your holidays now!

Why don't we go on a forum holiday  :D  It has to be cheap though.

Hire a minibus, drive down to weymouth and camp on the beach overnight. We could have a beach party and a big fire like indians do. Are people allowed to do that?

Sunset in Kailua Kona, Big Island Hawaii August 2005.

This years holiday includes such luxurious destinations as Chippenham, Stroud, Blackpool and Letchworth. I may even pop by and pay homage to the County Ground. I'm not sure I'll get similar quality photos in those destinations  :(

In 75/76 around about the same time  we were having a crap season and threatened by relegation...there were about 5 games to be played around Easter time...so I thought right go away for a bit..went driving around France in a camper....and not check any scores thus avoiding the misery.

On return check out what has happpened and we've won 4 out of 5 and are going to stay up.

So in 82 its a late Easter we're doing poorly....thinks.. go away driving round France in a camper van...don't find any results...return to England and it'll be sorted.

On return we've won 3 out of 5....including winning 3-0 at Trashton...but its not quite convincing and we of course fell short on 52 by a point.

Haven't got a camper van any longer.....and with our shower of shit don't think it'd make any difference.

Buy a camper Reg. Although its only 50-50 we'll survive (based on the facts you presented), its better odds than most of us manic depressives are thinking. You know it makes sense

Not sure about going to France though.

Had it worked the second time....I'd have hired something and gone.

Despite being full of French people.....I love it....at least its not Germany.

I assume that most people in Luxemburg speak French? Anyone know anything about this tiny little country? Is beer expensive etc? Are the women nice?

We are celebrating St Patrick's day out in Luxemburg city centre, are pubs likely to open past midnight? :-))(

I believe citizens are called Luxembourgeois.

Rosa Luxemborg wasn't from Luxemborg, but if her Communist revolution in Germany had hapened it might have saved us some trouble.  Wanderley Luxemborgo isn't from there either.

 Radio Luxemborg probably is though.

Going to majorca this year   :)

Never been there before but we are art owners of a large holiday company so basically get really cheap holidays because we invested money a couple generations ago

So its really high quality, and majorca. All good.

Nothing too exciting planned because of money (or lack of).

Going to Jedburgh for a week in June. Couldn't find any good pictures so here's a map showing where it is!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b323/swindon12345/180px-Jedburgh_-_Scottish_Borders_d.png

And going to Sweden later in the year to see my mate and family who are moving out there. Again, no good photos but here's a wierd picture of the bridge my mate has to drive over every day to his work in Copenhagen. I have no idea who the man is.

I think that there are a lot of people living there who are not Luxemboug nationals. I get the impression that it is something of a tax haven... so petrol is cheap, but I would imagine a lot of stuff is expensive, as there are lots of rich banking types living there.

As for holidays, weekend in Mexico at the end of the month, Spain for Easter, Hamburg in the summer, and Chile/Argentina in the Autumn. Haven't taken more than 10 days holiday in each of the last two years at work, so have been ticked off and forced to take a lot this year, to get the balance under control... No complaints from me.

Sounds like you are off to Malmo... quite a nice place, but Copenhagen is a lot more fun IMHO. Get yourself over that bridge, or take the ferry...

Malmo does have a copy of the 'Non Violence' sculpture by Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd (a Swede) which is quite cool though. Tying into other posts on this thread, the original sculpture was actually a gift to the UN from LUXEMBOURG.
