Now, be nice. Actually I'd quite like one of the those who're ever so quick to have a go about the team being unfit to bid on this, just to see how long they'd last!

Training with the squad would be ace! Shame i have no money to bid with. It's a little known fact that i did work experience at Oxford United and spent a day training with the squad, including a 5 mile run, in which I beat some of their players :D (I applied to do WE at Swindon, but they shunned me :( )

id give you some money on match day if i ever saw some. think ive only seen them twice?

That's probably because we've only been given permission for two collections this season. That said, we're usually out there with trestle tables for KTIS postcards etc and if you wanted to slip us a fiver then, no-one would mind!

If you tell me Paul that it is the club that grants permission then I am seriously going to go off on one ! ...................... or is it a local authority licensing thingy ?

Erm, it's the club (stands well back and waits for explosion). We asked for half a dozen "slots" in the period before Xmas at the start of the season, and got two due to wanting to avoid conflict with other groups collecting (which to me raised the interesting image of us going toe to toe with the St Johns Ambulance or Guide Dogs for the Blind or something, buckets a'flyin'). It's probably more someone getting a bit over-bureaucratic more than not wanting to help out, if that's what you're implying - the club donated a good chunk of the stuff that was auctioned tonight and let us use the Winners for free, promoted it in the programme etc. So I'd hold off a bit before you go off on one.

We're hoping to get some more slots before the end of the season. Although to be fair recently we've been flat out with the Keep Town in Swindon postcards etc so wouldn't really have been able to do both anyway - now if we had more people helping out on matchdays .....

yes i have filled one in though.

We're usually doing something before most home games, whether it be collecting postcards to councillors, bucket collections for RAF etc. At the moment, the focus is on the Keep Town in Swindon stuff - we set up a trestle table outside the club shop (and at corner of TE/Arkells if we get enough people) with postcards, lists of councillors, pens etc so people can write a postcard to their local councillor (or Mike Bawden, council leader, if they're from out of Swindon) and drop it in a bucket and we then deliver them in batches to the Civic Offices. 1200 collected so far plus another 500 sent out that people have hopefully sent in themselves.

So for the moment the best thing would be to turn up at the Trust office (next to away travel office) about 1.45 on a matchday and pitch in! That said, I don't think we're doing the postcards thing tonight as everyone's too tight in terms of time getting there from work. See you before the Chesterfield game?

We usually try and post notice on here, Trust forum etc when we're going to be doing a bucket collection asking for volunteers so keep an eye out for that as well. But like I say, we're usually doing something most matchdays, so just turn up and pitch in
