Anyone like Sushi? Are there any good Sushi restaurants in Swindon? Whats your favorite Sushi dish?

I like Spicy Yellowtail Rolls myself. Classy.

I tried the little packs you get from tesco's once and it was expectedly crap. I'd love to try proper sushi. no resturants in swindon as far as I know.

I've had sushi, lovely. I think Rendevous do it on a weekend, and theres a chinese restaurant down by Revs. (i think) that does sushi.

me and the bobster (and a few others) went on holiday to Los Angeles in the summer. We were at Hermosa Beach one evening and went to this Sushi Bar. It was quite possibly the best evening of my life. Way better than the day I was born.

The sun was shining through the windows and we could see the sea from our table. We all didnt have a fecking clue what to eat so we got the selection box. It was fun but they pretty much tasted the same. Some were a bit grim some were well nice. The Wasabi stuff was hot hot hot. Tasted like mustard

Wasabi is very strong Horseradish, very HOT !!

I was a sushi virgin until I went to Hawaii, there's nowt better than supping good wine and eating sushi overlooking the beach  :mrgreen:

did you do the luau in Hawaii? Cooking a pig under the ground is great fun.

Yep, did one. You get load of half naked chicks dancing very close to you with coconut shell bikinis. Highly recommended.

Big Island. Actually a little disappointed tbh. Nice enough, but it felt like being in most other parts of America really. Oahu didn't appeal to me, but the smaller islands (Maui) are meant to be really nice. Expensive though.

I'm sensing 'We are going down' is a meat and two veg kind of guy. You need to expand your culinary horizons young sir.

Bless you Sade!!! I just can't imagine there being a thai restaurant in Westbury, let alone Sushi. That said, a lot of thai places do sushi as well (at least in the states anyway)

I take it sushi is shit then Rich? Can I ask whether you have tried it? The thought of eating raw fish put me off for years, but when I tried it, I just loved it.

The only fish I like is fish fingers.

Your are missing out on so much dear Sade. Expand your culinary horizons and try salmon, tuna and the like. Its good for you too, full of Omega 3 oils which are good for the old ticker.

And if you find any fish in fish fingers, be sure to let me know. Its a start though.

Tuna is nasty and stinks and salmons ok but a bit bland. Fish fingers are nice in sandwhiches  :D  I am a bit fussy mind you. I like prawns though, thats classed as fish isnt it.

I'll eat any sort of fish, as long as its vaguely recommended ....problem is that to get it at its best, you really need to be eating it not too long after its come out of sea or river.

 So although you can get perfectly acceptable fish inland at a restaurant, you can't beat, fresh from the water....especially sushi..

i love fish more than anything. If I could only eat one meat for the rest of my life it would be fish. it reminds me of being a human, much like picking some berrys and eatign them in the garden

All fish smells to some degree. Tuna is certainly not one of the worst. Kippers on the other hand would force you out of the house they stink so much. I give you prawns as fish (kind of).

To my knowledge there isn't a decent fishmonger in town any more....OK you can get some stuff in tesco or Sainsbury's, but they lack the love.

    The last of Swindon's fishmongers used to be in Market Street by where Castle's was.

  The fella in there was ace....you could ask about a particular type of fish and he'd tell you what to do with it....also he'd fillet certain types if you asked....like flat fish...Lemon sole, halibut, brill...

 There was a stall in the old Brunel indoor market....that used to sell some real odd looking critters...only seemed to be Chinese people who ever bought them.

 You could get bad boys like the Red Gurnard there.

sushi nice - especially fresh - try Mount Fuji at Stanton House Hotel, Stanton Fitzwarren - broody rovery my fliend!

I've tried to like sushi, for the love of god I have but I just can't find anything about it that appeals to my taste buds.

I have similar issues with most fish.  Fresh cod is beautiful and I'll usually have a taste of something I've caught but find me a slab of bleeding mammal and it wins hands down every time.

Never been the same after some bastard told me about the worms.    :cry:
