Bit of a shock...no age at all really. He was a seriously classy player....but England had a lot of decent strikers back then and he didn't get too many caps although made the squad for the 70 WC in Mexico. Had he been a player today he'd have been hyped to the N th degree....might have found the discipline needed today difficult though. Title: Peter Osgood... Post by: janaage on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, 17:02:51 One of those 70's footballers that were way before my time and never really had an interest in tbh.
Shocking that he collapsed at a family members funeral though, what a time to go. Title: Peter Osgood... Post by: adje on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, 17:28:56 He was one of those many players who were at the time considered too flash for regular international football like Hudson,Currie,Bowles,Worthington etc.Legend at Chelsea-but they weren't all that in those days-good cup side but thats about it.

Also at Chelsea then was Charlie Cooke.....a wonderful player, if Sweatie, something that the younger fans may find hard to believe is that back in the 70's, a Scotland WC squad, could be a good source of pub debate, about which of 5 or 6 very good players wouldn't get into the final 22. Of course they always fucked up, but on paper had great squads. Title: Peter Osgood... Title: Peter Osgood... Post by: Bedford Red on Thursday, March 2, 2006, 19:08:19 Was sad news; 59 is no age.
And as Janaage said; a horrible way to go at a family funeral. Title: Peter Osgood... Post by: DMR on Thursday, March 2, 2006, 23:04:05 Convinient though.
