Title: Route to Forest Post by: Luci on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, 17:31:26 Which route is the best route to take to Forest by car?
Just looked at AA routefinder and doesn't look great. Will be leaving from the CG not from Chelt (even though its closer). Does anyone know any quick routes or best roads to use? Also what time would we need to leave to get there a couple of hours/hour and a half before the game starts? Title: Route to Forest Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, 17:36:44 The bog standard route, is over to the M5 then the M42 (A42) thingy to hit the M1 around Kegworth.....up towards Nottingham and off by the power station at Ratcliffe on Soar.....in to the city through Clifton.
Title: Route to Forest Post by: Johno on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, 17:38:30 im leaving around 10 apprantley, so i would probably get there around 1 including stops? and im going from calne. so from cheltenham, i assume it would take about 2 hours? depends on the motorway. This could all be cack though of course.
on what route is best, don't know! Title: Route to Forest Post by: Luci on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, 17:39:44 yeah its 2 from chelt but easier for me to get ppl from CG I guess as I doubt anyone would be able to get to chelt and one way system is nightmare.
providing the routes are relatively fast moving roads then getting there for 1 through leaving at ten may be ok. Title: Route to Forest Post by: Johno on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, 17:42:23 well, im planning on getting there for oneish so i can find a oub and watch partick thistle v hearts 8)

I take it stay on the 419 until the very end (cheltenham) then go back on M5 from there heading towards brum. reason being my mate from cheltenham may need picking up on the way back from the CG. That route has currently got roadworks on the A34, M40, A43 and M! - its a bugger. I have to drive it every week to come from Nottingham to home games via Oxford to pick my brother up. Go the other way! If you do brave it it is easiest to just go from the M40 to the M1 via the A43 and then all the way up to J25. A419 to Ciren, A429 to Warwick, A46/A45/A46 to M69, M69 to M1. When it's quiet it's a great route. When those pesky caravanners come out to play in the Cotswolds it is a git. Title: Route to Forest Post by: Asher on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, 12:36:52 oh blooming hell im just confused now!
Title: Route to Forest Post by: Arriba on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, 12:38:41 a419 to cirencester then a429(stow road) then take m40 north then pick up m42 a42 m1 ect
this is shortest route,i work as a trucker and have taken all routes to nottingham. avoid a34 as it has restrictions and is a nightmare at the moment. the 419 m5 m42 a42 m1 is a decent route to and is probably the quickest. would advise all to check travel news before leaving then decide on route.
