what a surprise, not ready in time. i wasn't sure about the 'arch' at first, but i think it will be better than the twin towers as a landmark

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40301000/jpg/_40301281_wembley_fa.jpg

has any other football stadium ever cost £800m-odd?

how much does a skyscraper cost?

i really should do some essay.

Another reason to drop him*

I like the investigation into the Wembley construction workers betting on the fact it wouldn't be ready in time for the cup final!

Any job where people work long physical days, you will find drugs.

The arch does look mighty impressive from the north circular, but it's pretty fucking pathetic to be so far over-schedule(nevermind over cost), and pretty symptomatic of any large scale construction in England.  It baffles me how we are so bad at it.

Could see the arch thing from the M25 out Surrey way on a recent journey....its a big bit of kit.

We're not that bad at big stuff, only when given to Australian contractors.

I am still convinced the workers are being paid by the day like most labourers, that's why it's taking so fucking long.

the firm building it is Australian which is probably why they (a) take drugs (b) are lazy on the job

go into any company now days and you will find people on drugs.  The tea boy may be doing pills on a saturday night, the secretary could smoke weed in the evening with her bloke, the director could be a smack head.  The builders just havent been organised correctly.

Should've built it in Birmingham for a third of the price or built three - one in Birmingham, one in Manchester and of course one in Swindon.

And it'd be finished already....

I remember watching a documentary about a company whose staff were encouraged to use drugs whenever they wanted too and their profits had been rising for 20 years. Perhaps multiplex haven't been using enough drugs.
