Title: problem already, bolloxs.
Post by: blinkpip on Friday, November 6, 2009, 19:10:04
My new PC keeps freezing sometimes when on the internet today. I got to keep restarting.
I bought a new cordless mouse/keyboard today and just installed AVG free virus protection. Which one is likely to cause the problem?
I'm fucking angry....

Yes 64 bit. It's not the keyboard as I just changed it back.

If I go into remove programsand remove it, will it remove the problem or will I have to deleate folders etc?

Run windows uninstaller, reboot, then search for all folder and files with avg in them and delete

Go to control panel>System and security>Event logs

See if you have any errors (look at 'critical' first) then ones that are just 'error'.

Let me know if there's anything. Hopefully this may establish the cause.

Also it would be helpful to know what you're doing/what the computer is doing when it freezes?

i.e. are you browsing the internet; is win7 trying to auto update?

Does the screen freeze and the hard disk light come on constant? Have you tried leaving it for 10 minutes to see if it unlocks itself?

Also what wireless mouse keyboard are you using and did your install anything to get them working?

Have you had the swine flu vaccine? That is really, really a bad move. Have you realised just what the Lisbon Treaty is going to do the sovereignty of this country and your democratic rights? Have you taken the time to understand that the man made global warming bollocks really is a huge fraud that is going to impoverish you with vastly increased taxes and lifestyle control? If none of the above then just turn the fucking thing off and on again and don't worry about anything meaningful.

Love and kisses.

If it was amusing or original I wouldn't care, but leave the political bullshit out for once.

<Sigh, Si> It is not bullshit it is an observation. Pardon me for being more concerned about what is really happening in our lives rather than reality TV/X-Fuckedup/junk food/celebrity bollocks/multimedia/football/entertainment/filmsy filmsy films/home computers.

Ah well. Ok then, if it is brand new then throw it back at the place you bought it from. Oh and if you're running Windows 7 then you deserve to have problems.

It is a valid perspective voiced (well, typed) in an inappropriate place - if you want to change the world, the TEF, a light hearted Swindon Town FC internet forum, seems an odd place to start.

When I plugged my new wireless mouse and keyboard in, it automatic detected new hardware (and ready to use).
So I now restored before I added them and revert to my old keyboard, been going alright the last 20 minutes so far.

I've also un plugged speakers, which I also added at the same time.

Events log wouldn't let me copy, can't see anything obvious, apart from unexpected shutdown (where I switch it off after freezing) but will type some out if it happens again.

 :(

I think the drivers for the keyboard and mouse may be to blame. What model are they, I will try and find out some more info (if there are specific drivers to use) for example.

Are you trying to browse a certain website when it crashes?

Logitech, so are the speakers.

I did wonder if having another PC on wireless, in another room could clause the problem, as it was happening when my brother was on the net at the same time. (mine has the router)

but still going ok at the mo.

Having left my internet on for about 4 hours this morning, it frooze. Another PC in another room was online when it happened, so thinking it could be something related?

I'm connected through my router, while the other PC is connected through Wireless.

(I do have a wireless adapter fitted to my PC, but using cable to the router, seeing it's next to my PC.)

It might have nothing to do with the problem, but i'm losing hope.  >:(

If this is a new pc, can't you take it back and get them to sort it out for you?

If your pc is hard-wired ensure the wireless is disabled.

Are you using windows to connect both wireless adapters or a 3rd party program?

I never connected my new PC wireless, it was one built in, but not connected to the network. It can see wireless connections, but just not connected to them.

I guess I'm using windows to connect, as I haven't loaded any software. I just plug in and go.

The other PC in the house is connected wireless through a net gear wireless adapter, which I plugged in and worked, about a year ago.

It's a bit difficult to point the actual problem...

I will do if I can't get it sorted. But I need to ensure it's not me clausing the problem.

Make sure the other computer doesnt have netgear software installed. Ive had similar issues due to their software and every computer was running it so there shouldnt have been any compatibility issues

Just take the two files shown on the BSOD and attach them to your post. I'll check them on the debugger.
