I'm in the Dani King camp as well.

Somebody pointed out on Twitter this morning, to be in Dani King's head this morning after all the fuss about the Olympic team and Armitstead having a ban hanging over her that no one knew about!

Of course. That's a great point. I really don't see why they didn't take her.

That Dutch girl's crash just now in the road race!  Jeez, I hope she survives it. Sad

Horrible to watch.

Update - Apparently she's conscious but no news of how badly damaged.  If you missed it and want to see......

That was horrific. 3 fractures in her lumbar spine and heavy concussion. No internal bleeding and no further abnormalities.

I had just turned the ladies road race on, and the first thing i saw was Van Vleuten's tank slapper and subsequent impact.

As a word of warning - the road from Badbury up to the Ridgeway is incredibly slippy (running water appears to have allowed algae/weeds to form). I came off going down in yesterday and have fubared the bike and my right hand side.

thanks dude.
Mech hanger is gone and loads of surface damage to the RD. Just about to go and have a look at it properly since yesterday.

Good news! The rear mech is scuffed to fuck but working, additionally I am ok
Just gunna get on the phone to Thames Water about the continual flow of water over the road...they should try to limit it or at least put signs up warning people

Make sure you get the mech re-aligned. Glad you're ok.

What tyres and width is everyone running?

My old GPS4000 (23) started to perish so I've changed to same tyres but upped to 25. I'm surprised at the improvement in comfort without any loser of speed.

My road bikes are running 23's but the industry tends to be putting 25's on new bikes these days. Trek are even sending out Domane bikes with 28's.

The current school of thought is that a slightly wider tyre at a slightly lower pressure reduces rolling resistance. In addition, wider rims are the vogue which makes sense if you look at the cross section profile of say a 23mm rim with a 23mm tyre- almost aerofoil profile- less drag.
