Swansea's French goalkeeper Willy Gueret was arrested by police amidst chaotic scenes at the end of the Swans' promotion-clinching game away at Bury.
As Swansea players attempted to celebrate with their fans the goalkeeper was surrounded by police who proceeded to handcuff the Swans' number one and lead him away from the ground.
Rumours were rife that the goalkeeper had sworn at police as players reacted with anger as they were stopped from celebrating their famous victory - first Bury stewards then police forcing players away from their fans.
The trouble seemed to stem from players clambering on a flat roof in front of the Bury main stand, stewards appeared to consider this posed a safety to both the Swansea players and fans.
The game had already descended into chaos three minutes from time as some of Swansea's 5000 travelling fans spilled over the fences at Bury's Gigg Lane ground forcing the referee to temporarily suspend play.
A Swansea City director was sent to the local police station to remedy the unfortunate situation.
Swansea City manager Kenny Jackett said that the goalkeeper was innocent and the incident was a huge over-reaction by Bury police.
The Swansea boss said he hoped he and his players could laugh about the events following the game in training on Monday.
I'm pleased to see them come up myself, might have to make the trip to their new stadium next year.
